As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Banking's Post Trade Tech team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Designs, develops, and maintains scalable database solutions on AWS.
- Utilizes Python for automation, data processing, and application development.
- Implements infrastructure as code using Terraform to manage AWS resources.
- Develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployment processes.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
- Optimizes system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AWS services (e.g., RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, KMS, Step Functions, ECS, EKS ).
- Expertise in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker, AWS CodeDeploy).
- Observability with Cloudwatch / Grafana / Splunk / Datadog
- Good knowledge of computing concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with database design, optimization, and management.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, API design, application development, software testing, security and operational resiliency.
- Practical cloud native experience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills - AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar certification.
- In depth knowledge of Terraform or Cloud Formation (IAC)
- Strong Python and software engineering experience.
- Advanced software testing skills
- Experience in DevOps and working in an Agile environment.
