Job Description: Lead DB Developer
Northern Trust is looking for a Developer to join its Global Brokerage team. This individual as part of an Agile development team, will be Responsible for designing, developing, testing and deploying software solutions for Brokerage. Assist with the proposal of new designs and modifications to existing ones to continuously improve performance, functionality, and stability of the system. Works with business leaders and business unit partners to define priorities and deliver custom solutions to solve business problems or address business needs. Acts as a business/technical consultant to other partners and coordinates implementation of new processes and techniques.

Major Duties
Consults with Business Unit and IT management and staff on all phases of the project development cycle.
Helps to design major systems and their subsystems utilizing a solid understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs.
Design and develop high-performance programming language components used by trading applications.
Provide technical expertise to support and enhance core brokerage application.
Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function
As subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level
Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult
Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities.
Ensure code meets standards and tested appropriately in the platform
Provide L3 support and develop deep understanding of the landscape, production management and ITIL fundamentals
Be part of platform transformation journey and help in reengineering and improve the current set of applications
Knowledge/Skills
Agile Methodology
Deep understanding of Oracle/Unix technologies, should be well conversant in developing packages, creation/scheduling of Jobs
Knowledge of Datastage 11.7 or any other ETL tool
Experience with UNIX and key languages, e.g. Python 2.7+, Shell scripting. Solid programming skills in Oracle.
Good to have skills in working with Opensource technologies, micro service architecture, cloud-native development, continuous build, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
Exposure to any Cloud based Datawarehouse preferably Snowflake
Ability to work effectively with end users to define requirements.
Understanding of financial market/instrument/Trade lifecycle
Knowledge of the system development life cycle, the client area's functions and systems, and applications program development technological alternatives.
Good communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff required.
Required Skills:
Knowledge in Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC)
Good knowledge on Relational Database concepts especially Oracle (SQL and PL-SQL).
Strong foundational knowledge on Snowflake.
Development experience in Python.
JIRA for defect and backlog management.
Financial Domain experience
Ability to write Unix scripts.
Preferred/ Recommended:
Development experience in Datastage
Exposure to Data Analytics and Azure Cloud/ Pipelines
Development experience in Pivotal Cloud Foundry(PCF)
Experience developing within an agile development environment using continuous integration tools such as: Maven, Bamboo, TFS, ANT, Coded UI , Sonar ,GIT.
Financial Domain experience
Experience
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Overall 9+ Years of Industry experience in IT.
Experience in agile development methodology.
Experience as hands-on software developer.
