Job Description

The primary responsibility will initially focus on hardware tech refresh (replacement) efforts, while seeking cost savings via consolidation, virtualization, and reduction where possible across the Online Legal estate (Westlaw Next, Legal Cobalt Shared Platform based products & product views, CLEAR, Doc & Form Builder, Drafting Assistant, OnePass, Online Charges, etc.)
The hardware replacement or life cycle management allows for operating system upgrades, Database Management System upgrades, Storage and Network interface updates to provide a secure, stable & healthy environment for our Business Critical Applications.


About the role:


In this opportunity as Lead Release Manager, you will:


  • Provide project management for LTIO initiatives.  This includes:
  • Building high quality, collaborative working relationships with executives, technology partners, customers and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing proactive thought leadership, work direction and feedback to the project leads and teams.
  • Drive progress on complex and/or multiple projects relative to scope, schedules, budgets and quality.
  • Facilitating solutions to complex problems, negotiating and resolving conflicting/changing priorities and managing complex process improvements.
  • Communicating and reporting issues, risks, dependencies, etc. via regular status to executives, customers, and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with senior leaders in preparing strategic technology options and direction to ensure the health and stability of our enterprise applications. 
  • Assisting with strategic management of the Legal Tech Infrastructure & Operations portfolio including business case management and budgeting
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated achievements in planning, directing and implementing complex projects on time, within budget and with desired functionality
  • Strong collaboration, conflict resolution, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, changing, and ambiguous environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with Executive audiences

About you:


You're a fit for the role of Lead Release Manager, if your background includes:


  • Four-year undergraduate degree in computer science, business, or related field
  • 12+ years related experience in IT Infrastructure, Production Support and Release Management , including at least three years of project management experience with software development projects
  • Preferred or Desired Qualifications:
  • Broad knowledge and/or experience in leading infrastructure technology projects (Hardware replacement, Operating System Upgrades, Database Management System Upgrades, Storage / Filer Upgrades, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access to manage & maintain an existing Asset Repository (Servers, Legal Contacts, Application Attributes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with work/requirements tracking software (Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS))
  • Broad knowledge of Westlaw Next systems, Online Information & Content systems, and/or Thomson Reuters Content
  • PMP/PRINCE 2 certification
