Job Description

Role profile:


As a highly skilled lead network engineer, you will be responsible for the ongoing support and reliability of all components within the LSEG ecosystem, encompassing platforms, networks, applications, and services. In this role, you will provide escalation support for important network services, ensuring the operational stability and performance of the LSEG global network. You will also find opportunities and improvements, then define requirements for software automation to enhance the features, functions and reliability of the network, underpinning LSEG’s digital platforms.


Role summary:


We will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining systems, software, and applications across various domains, ensuring the highest quality outcomes. We will independently make technical design and amendment decisions, effectively leading the workload.


By analysing data and understanding business requirements, we will translate them into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with infrastructure and network capacity needs. We will develop dashboards to provide near real-time network status.


As part of Network operations and service teams, we will provide in-depth technical support and guidance for all LAN and WAN-related issues and implementations. This role requires a proactive problem solver with a deep understanding of IP protocols, WAN infrastructure, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.


When necessary, we will lead upgrades, coordinating efforts with internal teams and third parties. Building accurate documentation and monitoring system performance are essential to support business activities and continuous improvement.


We will support the deployment of engineering patterns and contribute to creating solutions by coordinating design requirements to be automated, tested and released.


Requirements:


  • Proven experience in network products and services, with specific focus on Cisco LAN and WAN technologies, including ASR and Nexus9K.
  • Hands on experience in LAN, WAN, MPLS, GRE, BGP, OSPF, and ISIS within a VRF context for L2/L3VPN services.
  • Familiarity of multicast concepts, including PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, IGMP, MVPN, and MLDP.
  • Proficiency in product-aligned, service-focused work, with a solid grasp of network automation, SRE, and DevOps or equivalent experience.
  • Working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and project management tools like JIRA.
  • Excellent skills in network packet analysis and packet capture tools for troubleshooting.
  • Extensive knowledge of Firewall, Load balancing technologies, TCP/IP, and multicast in internet environments.
  • Understanding of low-latency technologies commonly used in the financial sector.
  • Experience in Data Centre Networking, including Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Cisco ACI, VxLAN, and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in Service Management processes, preferably with ITIL knowledge.
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills, enabling meaningful collaboration.

Preferred Skills and Experience:


  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technology-related field is essential.
  • CCIE certification, is highly desirable (including actively pursuing accreditations).
  • Significant experience in technology-focused positions is crucial.
  • Extensive knowledge of LAN, WAN & IP Services Technologies and Protocols.
  • Substantial experience (5+ Years) as a Senior Network Engineer.
  • Exposure to Network Service Providers or the Financial Services Sector.
