Job Overview:

The Lead HSE Lead ISBL Granulation is responsible for overseeing and managing the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance across the site, specifically for the ISBL (Inside Battery Limits) Granulation unit. The role involves ensuring that safety standards, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements are met, while also promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement on site. The Lead HSE will provide leadership in driving HSE initiatives, conducting audits, and ensuring adherence to safety policies within the Granulation area of operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. HSE Leadership & Compliance:


    • Lead and manage all HSE activities within the ISBL Granulation unit.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations and Worley policies.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE strategies, procedures, and systems tailored to the ISBL Granulation process.
    • Monitor and review all HSE performance metrics for continuous improvement.
  2. Risk Assessment & Mitigation:


    • Conduct HSE risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation measures specific to granulation operations.
    • Ensure safe work practices are followed, focusing on potential hazards in the Granulation area such as dust, chemical exposure, and mechanical processes.
    • Lead or participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for the Granulation unit.
  3. Training & Development:


    • Lead and coordinate HSE training programs for site personnel to ensure they are well-versed in safety protocols and emergency procedures specific to granulation operations.
    • Foster a safety-first culture by providing guidance, mentoring, and support to employees and contractors.
  4. Safety Inspections & Audits:


    • Regularly conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulatory standards.
    • Perform environmental monitoring for compliance with emission, waste, and environmental protection standards relevant to the ISBL Granulation unit.
  5. Incident Reporting & Investigation:


    • Lead the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses in the ISBL Granulation area and prepare comprehensive reports with recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
    • Maintain accurate records of HSE data, reports, and safety-related documentation for internal tracking and external regulatory purposes.
  6. Contractor Management:


    • Oversee contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with HSE standards during contractor activities in the ISBL Granulation unit.
    • Ensure contractors undergo necessary safety inductions and are equipped with required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  7. Environmental Management:


    • Ensure that granulation operations are environmentally responsible, focusing on waste management, air emissions, and water usage.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, reporting requirements, and mitigation strategies for environmental risks.
  8. Emergency Response:


    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans specific to the Granulation unit, ensuring preparedness for any HSE incidents or accidents.
    • Lead emergency response drills and participate in any emergency operations as required.
  9. Continuous Improvement:


    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
    • Proactively identify and implement improvements in processes, safety systems, and operational procedures to minimize risk and enhance site performance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Education:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:


    • HSE experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, in a leadership role.
    • Experience in granulation operations or chemical manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
    • Extensive experience with regulatory compliance, HSE risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Certifications:


    • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent safety certification.
    • Relevant environmental certifications (e.g., ISO 14001) are a plus.
    • First Aid and Fire Safety certifications.
  • Skills:


    • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly related to granulation processes and chemical manufacturing.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization.
    • Proficiency in HSE management systems, tools, and reporting software.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
