Job Title: Lead Consultant - Solution Architect

Introduction to role


The Lead Solution Architect for Data, Analytics, and AI will ensure that architecture decisions align with both business and IT strategies within the Manufacturing and Supply Chain domain. This role involves bringing to bear, demonstrating, and using AstraZeneca's standard reference architectures and design patterns. Responsibilities include supporting the definition of analytics, data science, digital, and operational business use cases, as well as common ingestion, curation, data design, and consumption patterns. The Lead Solution Architect will assess and review the work of other solution architects, balancing immediate needs with strategic goals. This role focuses on project portfolios over a 0-12 month horizon and strategic roadmaps over a 12-24 month horizon.


Accountabilities
  • Define Architecture Standards, Reference Architectures, Design patterns, and Roadmaps for the allocated portfolio
  • Accountable for the direction, performance, and ongoing health of current solution architectures within one or more given portfolios
  • Contribute to leaders of the overall Enterprise Data Strategy in partnership with AstraZeneca business functions, solution developments, and functional projects
  • Define and handle Architecture Principles for the given portfolio(s) in Data, Analytics & AI fields
  • Responsible for architecture and technology evangelization, architecture roadmap, and alignment
  • Develop and perform architecture, standard methodology, and technology education
  • Ensure Architectural Governance across all D&A subject areas within the portfolio
  • Accountable for the architecture and design of comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and align with AstraZeneca’s Enterprise Architecture strategies
  • Guide and support other architects (including third-party suppliers) in developing and documenting architectures for complex and business-critical projects
  • Drive solution evaluation and selection decisions, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates contributing to the case
  • Participate in Architecture Assessments & Reviews as Lead Reviewing Architect or Subject Matter Authority
  • Create estimates for solution delivery including validating third-party estimates to ensure value for money
  • Document standard methodologies, drive reuse of existing solutions, and promote new solutions for reuse
Essential Skills/Experience
  • Relevant technical degree or equivalent
  • Experience demonstrating proficiency in technical domain of data, analytics, and AI
  • Experience defining strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, architecture principles, design patterns, transition architectures
  • Experience implementing and maintaining business solution architectures under any formal framework for their domain of architecture
  • Proven consultancy experience designing end-to-end solutions that operate across all domains of IT
  • Experience developing and leading innovative solutions
  • Proven experience of leading change and challenging approaches/ideas
  • Proven ability to influence across business and IT
  • Experience developing and managing relationships with third-party suppliers
  • Experience with policies, procedures, and guidelines within a quality, compliant, and secure environment
  • Experience with large-scale solution Justification phase work – product evaluation, business case formulation
  • Experience directing cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working
  • People Development experience

  • Strong networking skills with good internal/external links
  • Well-developed communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language at all levels of leadership
  • Awareness of developments in the marketplace for domain focus and potential impact to AZ IT
  • Proven business insight
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry and competitor activity on a particular architecture and Information Management
  • Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams and proven ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
  • Masters and/or Professional Certification
