Role Description


Currently DWS sources technology infrastructure, corporate functions systems [Finance, Risk, HR, Legal, Compliance, AFC, Audit, Corporate Services etc] and other key services from DB.  Project Proteus aims to strategically transform DWS to an Asset Management standalone operating platform; an ambitious and ground-breaking project that delivers separated DWS infrastructure and Corporate Functions in the cloud with essential new capabilities, further enhancing DWS’ highly competitive and agile Asset Management capability.


This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a high performing team implementing a strategic future state technology landscape for all of DWS Corporate Functions globally.


The Lead Business Functional Expert is responsible for and leader of activities which translate complex requirements from Lead Business Functional Analysts into system specific functional specifications which serve as the basis for technical solutions. The Lead Business Functional Expert acts as the day-to-day leader of work efforts in this area across a team and/or serves as a specialist providing support across development facing work efforts and projects.

Your key responsibilities


  • Delivery lead for all procurement workstream applications, procurement, expense management, travel management etc. responsible for Implementation, Upgrade, Rollout and AMS
  • Understand the nuances of Agile methodology and should be sound in designing user stories accordingly
  • Must have rich experience in designing solutions and writing functional specification for procurement applications
  • Defines complex business, process, usability and data requirements in partnership and collaboration with architects, developers and business users.
  • Designs and conceptualizes new complex business solution options and articulates identified impacts and risks.
  • Reviews testing requirements including test plans, test cases and test-data. Works with engineers to resolve complex functional issues arising from user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Works with engineers, to priorities, trouble shoot and resolve reported bugs/issues/CR’s (change requests)
  • Develops hypotheses to explain why usability, process, functional and data issues have occurred or are likely to occur.
  • Communicates usability and business process improvement, through application of detailed analytics, pattern and root cause analysis. Leverages visualisation techniques.
  • Supports the development of an environment where people management and development is the number one priority. Coaches direct reports and others in the organisation, as appropriate
  • Actively supports the business strategy, plans and values, contributing to the achievement of a high performance culture
  • Takes ownership for own career management, seeking opportunities for continuous development of personal capability and improved performance contribution
  • Acts as a role model for new employees, providing help and support to facilitate early integration and assimilation of their new environment
  • Supports tough people decisions to ensure people performance is aligned with organisation imperatives and needs. Addresses individual performance issues, where necessary, to drive for high performance

Your skills and experience


  • Minimum of 15 years’ implementation, Rollout, Upgrade experience with Procurement or Supply Chain
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with business and functional requirements analysis
  • Minimum of 15 complete implementation cycles of Ariba platform
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management/delivery experience on multiple procurement applications like Ariba , SAP Concur , travel management related apps etc.
  • Experience in implementation of various modules of SAP Ariba
  • Able to act as a point of escalation for team members.
  • Experience in reading and writing SQL statements
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving experience and ability to grasp new concepts, provide insights and solutions
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly organized with ability to commit and prioritize work duties and tasks
  • Excellent proven communication and documentation/presentation skills
  • Ability to identify and escalate problems at an early stage
  • Ability to work in virtual teams and matrix/global organizations
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office products
  • Fluent in English (written/verbal)
