The Lab IT & Workflow Consultant (titled as Automation and Digital Solutions Architect within Roche) reports functionally to the Lead - Automation and Digital Solutions but is dedicated to the Lab Transformation team and reports directly to the National Lead Lab Transformation. The Automation and Digital Solutions Architect is a key member of the Lab transformation team and focuses on workflow optimization of clinical laboratories and hospital, lab digitisation using a Lean Six Sigma mindset.


The Lab Transformation Team focuses on leading the customer buying cycle with value insights, commercial rigor, and strategic selling excellence to secure targeted acquisition accounts. They build long-term partnerships between Roche and few strategic commercial lab or hospital stakeholders, lab department management, clinical consultant, scientific officer down to lab users. The team provides potential solution possibilities across Core Lab Diagnostics Portfolio, solutions that drive Roche and customer’s growth as well as customer’s organisational performance across clinical, operational and financial parameters.


Key responsibilities include:
  • Good understanding of the end-to-end clinical lab processes from pre-analytical to post-analytical up to reporting of results.
  • This understanding and knowledge needs to be applied to gather information about the customer’s lab processes, people, technologies and documentations used in clinical laboratories.
  • Provide expert analysis of laboratory and hospital workflow processes, identify opportunities for improvement defined by key performance indicators (KPIs) so as to anticipate customer's needs / pain points.
  • Discuss, understand, quantify and present the current state of the customer, delve deeper into current pain points and needs. Participate in customer stakeholder discussions, visits to the customer sites where required, interview key lab staff.
  • Design the future state value proposal with relevant team members.
  • Perform product demos to customers.
  • Your success will be defined by clear value proposition that demonstrates measurable outcomes for our customers, demonstrates a competitive advantage for the healthcare systems.
  • Site-Specific Strategic selling framework:
  • Responsible for overall strategic account management planning, this includes strategic mapping of key HCPs and clinical C-suite.
  • Conduct Lab 360 vision framework workshops designed by the Healthcare Consulting team.
  • Build REXIS Strategic Selling framework (use account blue sheet) - stakeholder maps.

Who you are


  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Biotech, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Lab Medicine or related disciplines with 5 to 7 years of experience within Healthcare, Clinical Lab experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of the Lean and laboratory IT landscape is advantageous
  • Lean knowledge and expertise is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of tools such as process maps, value stream mapping, 5S, VDM, A3, X-Matrix, Standard Work, Workplace Redesign, Operational Changeover, etc.
  • Competency with spreadsheets (excel) and PowerPoint is critical for this role
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, stakeholder and influencing skills
