Junior Data Backup Storage Engineer

What success looks like in this role:

Overview

This role is for Data Backup & Storage team supporting multiple clients in Cloud, Applications, and Infrastructure BU 24x7. The role requires the engineer to have a good technical acumen as well as muti tasking abilities. There are multiple Data Backup solutions used for multiple clients such as Netbackup, Commvault, Rubrik, Veeam. The Engineer will need to have good verbal as well as written skills so as to communicate effectively with internal teams and account management stake holders. The role requires a high degree of commitment and focus as the impact of Backup failures could be substantial for a Business. The engineer would also need to have good collaboration skills as there will be interconnects with platform teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring the ITSM tools for multiple clients to ensure SLA compliance
• Respond to emails from internal stake holders or client counterparts on Delivery specific issues
• Data Backup & Restore Administration using Symantec Veritas NetBackup, EMC Avamar, CommVault and similar tools.
• Daily, Weekly and Monthly Backup Report creation, validation, remediation
• Basic understanding of Incident management, Change Management and Problem management
• Proactive investigation of issues that may impact the Backup team or other cross-functional teams
• Performing Health checks on the Backup environment
• Break-fix, Configuring Backups and restoration of server level as well as file level data, Proactive Health Checks
• Provide status and progress reports for backup environment related activities and tasks on regular/periodic basis to Tech Lead
• Ensure data protection regulations and compliance practices
• Provide technical support across internal stake holders and 3rd part vendors

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Database backup and recovery (sql, oracle)
• Knowledge of scripting languages like python, powershell for automation tasks
• Knowledge on Terraform or a Public Cloud solution-AWS, MS Azure, GCP
• Experience with virtualization technologies like vmware, hyperv

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in Computer Science or IT

• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Data backup administrator with excellent verbal and written communication, logical and analytical skills.

•Strong knowledge of data storage technologies and file systems

•Ability to support multiple clients/ technologies with good troubleshooting acumen

•Must be client focused, display interpersonal skills and be an effective team player
