How You Will Contribute:


Blue Planet (www.blueplanet.com), the software division of Ciena, is at the forefront of intelligent automation, providing innovative software solutions and specialised services to help clients modernize their IT and network operations. With a focus on AI-driven insights and policy-based automation, Blue Planet delivers critical closed-loop automation tools that align IT and networking processes, enabling seamless digital transformation and the development of adaptive networks.


We are looking for passionate and talented software engineers to join the Blue Planet engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in building high-performance, reliable, and maintainable software products within a large-scale, distributed, and polyglot environment.


  • Engage with cutting-edge 5G technologies to drive innovation in next-gen communication systems.
  • Design and develop microservices and tools to address complex 5G use cases in a cloud-native environment.
  • Build highly scalable and reliable software systems that meet the demands of modern 5G applications.
    Contribute to all stages of the Agile development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, review, testing, deployment, documentation, and knowledge sharing/training.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, constantly enhancing both technical solutions and development processes.

Must knowledge or experience:



  • BS in CS/EE or related discipline 



  • 2+ years of professional experience developing carrier class software 



  • Proficient in Java or Python development in Linux environment 



  • All or some of the core technologies - Core Java,Spring, Hibernate



  • Strong and effective software design principles with demonstrable results



  • Databases, at least one of: PostgreSQL, Oracle, Cassandra, Elasticsearch DB, MySQL



  • Ability to work in an Agile environment (using Jira as a tool for example) 



Highly desirable knowledge or experience:



  • Cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS,Openstacketc.,)



  • Interfaces NMS/EMS, Virtualized Infrastructure Managers



  • Familiarity with TMF standards like TMF640, TMF641



  • Familiarity with 3gpp standards for 5G



  • Fundamentals of SDN andNFV (Network function virtualization)



  • Understanding of networking including L0/L1/L2/L3 Switching & Routing, NETCONF, YANG



  • Excellent understanding of code versioning tools (git) 



  • Distributed platformsand stream processing usingKafkaor similarsystems
