Job Description
The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for client engagement, end to end management and delivery of the technology Book of Work and technology roadmap for the application and dependent/related interfaces.
- Code contributing leader of an Agile team, working to deliver sprint goals, as well as conduct personnel duties for team (e.g., performance evaluations, hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions).
- Lead the design and development of enterprise technology platform/applications.
- Manage overall execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the technology area.
- Utilize an in-depth understanding of how engineering integrates within technology and commercial awareness.
- Responsible for training and coaching team members, performance management activities, monitoring quantity and quality of work, and addressing development needs for assigned personnel.
- Make evaluative judgment based on analyzing information in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple sources of information!
- Impact engineering through overseeing planning, finances / budget, end results and policy setting
- Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and with external parties, as required!
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Java Full Stack Engineering including UI/UX technologies along with application design experience and experience as a lead/people manager.
- Multiple years of experience with Cloud-native development and Container Orchestration tools (Serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
- Multiple years of experience with Cloud-native development and Container Orchestration tools (Serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
- Multiple years of experience on Service Oriented and MicroServices architectures, including REST and GraphQL implementations
- Multiple years of experience with frameworks like Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, or Vert.x
- Exposure to Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, either on-premise or public cloud (i.e., Tekton, Harness, CircleCI, Cloudbees Jenkins, etc.)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experienced practitioner of Agile methodologies.
- Experience in implementation of Microservices.
- Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment.
- Technology Project Management experience
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related reporting to identify best practices.
- Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
- Proven track record of operational process changes and improvement
