A Day in the LifeWhat responsibilities are common for DCIM Engineer jobs?
Records
• Review and manage data centre access controls.
• Assist with data centre escort process.
• Work with and provide support to data centre 3rd party vendors (PTI, CTS) as needed.
• Coordinate recycling and RMA activities.
Documentation
• Attend daily IT and project status calls representing the team for status updates and notifications.
• Support incidents and escalated issues involving global data centre operations.
• Provide assistance building and maintaining runbooks for data centre operations.
• Prepare data centre specifications and design criteria for retrofits and provide input on future data centre design reviews as we strive to standarise our datacentre offerings globally.
• Review and develop detailed pre-approved templates for change management request (CMR) activities.
• Review product documentation for accuracy, content, and ease of use.

• Effectively communicate with customers via email, phone, and other electronic methods to ensure client's effective use of products.
• Support site teams in closet clean-up, switch port optimization, and survey work as needed. Communicate and set standards clearly with our connectivity team.
• Attain customer satisfaction with all such projects assigned.
• Co-Ordinate repairs for corrective maintenance and routine installations with site teams.
• Ensure server and application compliance with security and performance requirements.
• Integrate and partner with programs to solve complex infrastructure problems.
• Provide input into training material for seminars, practical and online training.
• Use a combination of product management and application knowledge to guide customers through successful implementations.
• Providing IT support to staff and customers, as well as respond to the server and network issues.
• Protect company data by the prevention of data centre components overheating.
• Support Cognizant 2nd shift Admin support in Woodbury. 2nd shift triage and support.
• Communicate and support our Facilities team for onsite datacentre and Co-Location vendors for hosting facilities.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements for DCIM Engineer jobs.

• Working in and with a globally dispersed team. Experience with a large multi-national Datacentre environment, with On-Prem and Co-Located Datacentres
• Strong leadership, self-management, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Requires careful attention to detail.
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or computer science.
• You MUST use the job code minimum requirements (minimum education and years of experience) as per the Workday global job description.
• You should have 4 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have

• A degree in computer science or related field 
• Experience in testing and validation of infrastructure builds for regulated environments.
• Experience is preparation and presentation for Audits.
• Experience in a very large Corporate environment dealing with hundreds of sites.
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems and other operating systems.
• Experience with racking and hardware installation would be an advantage. DELL, HPE, Cisco, APC and Veritas Equipment and Maintenance/Support Experience
• Experience working in a medical regulated environment considered a plus 
• Excellent documentation and presentation preparation skills
