The Position

IT Project Manager Job Description


The Position: Project Manager for Roche, Pune, India within Product Delivery Management Chapter


The IT Project Manager with a service delivery background is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing IT projects from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall and Agile) and experience in leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Additionally, they must possess a solid foundation in service delivery, ensuring projects align with business objectives and customer needs.


Key Responsibilities / Your work includes:


  • You will be working initially within R&D Cluster and closely partnering with business domains and senior stakeholders globally.


  • Have the accountability for in scope, in budget and on time delivery of the projects in scope of the program. 


  • Develop and manage project plans, including project scope, timeline, budget, timesheets and resource allocation.


  • Adopt the Roche Delivery Management Capability framework and Roche Ways of working throughout the project lifecycle.


  • Create and run project governance structure covering the deployment of the initiative and supporting projects.


  • Navigate in a complex global environment spanning across multiple functions and covering processes and IT solutions.


  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met.


  • Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders, steering committee on a regular basis.


  • Ensure project deliverables are properly documented and archived.


  • Collaborate with service delivery teams to ensure projects align with business objectives and customer needs.


  • Develop and implement service delivery strategies to improve project outcomes.


  • Continuously assess, manage and adequately report risks throughout the program/projects life cycle. Plan, negotiate and monitor contingency against the project risks and actively create scenario planning for major project risks on critical path.


  • Monitor and evaluate service delivery performance to identify areas for improvement.


Skill Profile / What you’ll need to be successful


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.


  • 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in an IT environment.


  • Good knowledge of Life Sciences, GxP background would be an additional benefit.


  • Experience in leading and motivating cross-functional teams.


  • Solid background in service delivery, including experience in aligning projects with business objectives and customer needs.


  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with demonstrated proficiency in influencing, negotiating and effective global collaboration in a complex matrix organization. 


  • Good knowledge of cultural differences and the impact of this on communication and working styles


  • Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project and ServiceNow.


  • Service orientation mindset to shape a high quality and reliable project delivery.


  • Demonstrated ability to successfully direct, coordinate, and strategically integrate multiple streams of information and activities


  • Willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone to learn new skills in a rapidly changing environment and have the ability to build and maintain business relationships.


  • Exhibit a Lean-Agile Mindset and excels at agile practices. Familiar with SAFe Methodology.


  • Enterprise mindset with focus on continuous delivery through collaboration, and bringing people together to work towards the same purpose across organizational boundaries.


  • Exhibit intellectual curiosity and integrity and have a strong passion for innovation, process automation and optimization.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
