Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled IT Analyst Applications ( Data Engineer - ETL /Snowflake) to join our India GCC - Enterprise Data & Integration Services-CAT IT Division

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer (ETL /Snowflake) to join our Caterpillar IT Division. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in the IT domain and will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring ETL Development and Support Initiatives using SnaapLogic, Snowflake, Data Modelling

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

Job Roles and Responsibilities

•  Demonstrate proficiency in designing, developing, and implementing ETL solutions using SnapLogic.
• Leverage strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, PL/SQL, and enterprise application integration to create robust data models and ETL pipelines.
• Successfully integrate with various systems and platforms, including JDBC, Snowflake, REST, SOAP, Salesforce, Redshift, Zuora, and S3 Snaps.
• Collaborate effectively with third-party vendors to integrate their systems with SnapLogic and provide solutions for seamless data flow.
• Build complex mappings using JSON path expressions and Python scripting to handle intricate data transformations.
• Develop scalable and efficient API web services using ETL, DataStage, and SnapLogic platforms to enable data exchange and integration.
• Conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues, documenting findings for future reference.
• Work effectively within a team to develop and integrate solutions that address business requirements.
• Collaborate with partners to implement best practices and ensure mutual benefits.
• Execute projects related to product improvement, such as upgrades, maintenance releases, and migrations.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of databases like Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, and DB2.
• Possess excellent skills in SQL, database concepts, and Unix Shell scripting.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of cloud concepts and their application in ETL and integration processes.
• Hands on experience modelling the Data Warehouse & Data Mart objects.
• Working knowledge on building pipelines to connect to different sources and load structured/semi-structured data in Snowflake tables.
• Practical understanding of Snowflake concepts e.g. Architecture, Warehouse, stages, file formats, bulk loading, tasks etc
• Experience with building Data solutions on Snowflake using its native functionalities.
• Experience on Database migration from cloud/on-premise DB to Snowflake.

What you will have 

• 8+ years of experience in Integrations technologies/areas, demonstrating a strong foundation in ETL processes and integration techniques.
• 3+ years of experience in designing and developing using SnapLogic, showcasing expertise in its features and capabilities.
• 2+ years of experience with building Data solutions and Data modelling on Snowflake.
• Experience with Datastage could be an add on.
• Experience with Databases like Teradata, DB, and Oracle, indicating a strong understanding of database management and query languages.
• Experience with scheduling tools like Tidal, demonstrating knowledge of job scheduling and automation.
• Proven track record as an SME on projects, indicating a deep understanding of ETL processes and integration challenges.
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, demonstrating adaptability to different project management approaches.
• Existing Caterpillar experience is a plus, indicating familiarity with the company's specific processes and systems.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and conceptualization skills, enabling effective troubleshooting and solution development.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills, fostering effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.

1:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST (EMEA Shift)

Level Extensive Experience:
• Facilitates in application design reviews and walkthroughs.
• Creates and evaluates technical alternatives for complex applications.
• Interprets application services such as API; integrates them with technical design.
• Develops various, distinct and multiple technical application designs.
• Prepares technical design documents and blueprints for applications.
• Explores and evaluates application design considerations for multiple technologies.

Implementation : Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks (ex: accounting or graphic design).
Level Working Knowledge:
• Tracks problems associated with the quality and effectiveness of application software.
• Researches the benefits and drawbacks of an organization's application software.
• Drafts application software usage for the department's needs.
• Provides instant support for end users of application software.
• Implements a specific application software under the supervision of management.
