What you will do


Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this critical role, you will support patient safety and ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements for adverse events. As part of Agile, cross-functional product teams, you will accelerate productivity from concept to pilot and deployment. The Scrum Master creates an environment that allows the team to stay focused with minimal disruptions, enables the effective use of Agile practices, removes obstacles to progress, and facilitates key Agile events. In collaboration with the Product Owner, the Scrum Master tracks team metrics and guides the team in delivering Amgen’s SAFe transformation roadmap.


Roles & Responsibilities:


Facilitation and Team Events


  • Facilitate team events such as Daily Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Scrum of Scrum events.
  • Assist in Program Increment (PI) planning, including quarterly planning readiness, System demos, team level sync meetings, and coordination with Product Owners (PO) sync meetings as needed.

Servant Leadership and Coaching


  • Act as a servant leader within Product and Platform teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Educate and coach the team on Agile practices, including Scrum, SAFe, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Mentor team members on Agile mindset, values, and principles to support their transformation into a self-managing, high-performing unit.

Team Enablement and Performance


  • Proactively remove roadblocks and impediments to ensure team progress and maintain focus.
  • Drive team alignment with organizational goals and guide them toward becoming autonomous, self-managing units capable of delivering consistent value.
  • Empower the team to own the delivery of objectives while maintaining focus on continuous improvement.

Support Product Owner and Stakeholder Collaboration


  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners to refine and manage the backlog, ensuring prioritization aligns with business needs.
  • Work with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between strategy, execution, and delivery timelines.
  • Assist in managing risks, tracking impediments, and addressing cross-team dependencies to streamline execution.

Cross-Team and Organizational Communication


  • Strengthen communication and relationships with other teams, particularly those in the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external team members, including senior management, developers, testers, and end-users.

Tracking Metrics and Continuous Improvement


  • Track, analyze, and report on team metrics such as velocity, sprint performance, project risks, and dependencies.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives based on insights from workshops, such as Inspect & Adapt sessions, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the adoption of Agile best practices to enhance team efficiency and delivery.

Execution and Alignment


  • Plan and facilitate sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews while monitoring the execution of features and epics to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Establish and communicate calendars for iterations, PI planning, and other Agile milestones.
  • Synthesize, track, and communicate quarterly objectives, risks, dependencies, and key milestones with stakeholders to ensure alignment across the organization.

  • Continuously learn and improve as a Scrum Master by participating in communities of practice and other learning opportunities to better support team success.

Basic Qualifications


Master's degree in information technology or computer science and 2 years of relevant Industry experience


Or


Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience


OR


High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Business Analysis and/or Project Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:


Functional Skills(Preferred):


  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics).
  • Practical knowledge of SAFe principles and practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Jira Align, and Miro Board.
  • Expertise in workshop facilitation and driving productive group discussions.

Professional Certifications (Preferred):


  • SAFe for Teams certification
  • SAFe Product Owner and SAFe Product Manager certifications
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer certification

Soft Skills:Strong leadership and team management abilities.


  • Proven experience in transformation and change management.
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
  • Strong team orientation, with a focus on achieving collective goals.
