IP & Technology Research Analyst, Applied Research & Technology (ART)


The Applied Research & Technology (ART) team, part of Collins Aerospace, works with teams around the globe, collaborating with them towards building prototypes, demonstrators, and new products, thereby enabling better innovation and business outcomes for the organization.

Position Overview:


We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is ready to grow and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies. The individual will be responsible for conducting research and analysis in disruptive technologies and help redefine Aerospace.


As part of ART organization, the individual will be part of strategic initiatives to drive research & technology initiatives in areas of interest and will be influencing the specific actions to take in developing the next generation of products & services.


What will you do!


  • Provide research and analysis on novel and disruptive Aerospace technologies (eg Hybrid Electric Aircraft, Battery/Hydrogen energy source, Advanced Air Mobility/UTM, Additive Manufacturing, Sensing technologies, emerging computing architectures etc.)


  • Apply methodologies and techniques to evaluate research trend around key emerging technologies to identify the Technology landscape and provide Technology analysis report


  • Support Technology Scouting and analysis for Collins Research & Development activities.


  • Support research teams in formulation of Technology portfolio for key emerging technologies across Collins Aerospace.


  • Collaborate with Open Innovation, Research & Development, IP, Engineering, and Business teams to establish a Technology strategy for Collins focus areas


  • Create and present Technology Research & analysis Report and presentations to Open Innovation, R & D, Legal, Engineering, and Business teams to inform Collins Technology roadmap


  • Utilize a wide range of resources including – Research papers, Literature, Patents, Technology Scouting & analysis tools, datasheets, schematics, presentations, to produce specialized research reports on the Technology landscape for key technologies.


  • Cross reference technical literature with business data resources for leading indicators to extrapolate market positions for companies and governments as part of specialized research reports.


  • Support Innovation and IP generation workshops to develop technologies & IP in key identified areas.


  • Communicate results and recommendations in oral and written presentations to senior management and technical staffs.


Qualifications:


  • Technical Graduate/Post Graduate Degree (preferably an Engineering or Science degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Mechanical or Physics domains)


  • 6-10 years experience in Aerospace domain (preferably 4+ years’ experience  in Technology Research & Analysis)


  • Previous business consulting or related experience for technical industries preferred


  • Demonstrated ability to grasp fundamentals of broad array of technology areas and liaison with appropriate technical subject matter experts to present consolidate insights and recommendations to leadership


  • Deep and wide technical understanding of technology industry trends


  • Strong research and analytical skills


  • Project management experience


  • Ability to provide a logical framework to support conclusions


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


  • Proficient in MS Office and business analytics Tools
