Inventory Accountant (Pune, India)

The Inventory Accountant will be an integral member of the Finance team for the North America region. The individual will be responsible for the preparation of reconciliations and analysis of the field inventory balances. In this capacity, this individual should have strong attention to detail, an ability to prioritize, and a strong sense of ownership.


The individual will be working across the business and engage with colleagues within Supply Chain, Logistics and Sales and get a first-hand view of how a large Global Multinational Medical Device Organization manages its products across the value chain.


What will you be doing?


Liaise with Customer Logistics team to ensure inventory count plans are up to date and plan timing for preparation of reconciliations to be performed in advance of district count.


Acquire reports from SAP, OSC and other related systems to reconcile inventory movements with actual inventory held at offices across the district. This drives the assessment of the outcome of the counts.


Partner with the Field Count Team and inventory specialist to ensure support for balancing items and validate proposals for final adjustments.


Support the Field Count team post count to ensure initial results are validated and is reasonable (at a high level),


Confirm inventory adjustments made in SAP is aligned to the approved proposal above and provide updates to management on the impact of adjustments to the P&L


Assist in the logistics of the inventory validation process and play a key role in ensuring the end to end field inventory count process is robust and based on complete and accurate data 5 Develop a deep understanding of the supply chain model to identify risks and opportunities for improvements in the field inventory management.


Contribute to ad-hoc projects / requests of varying duration. Customer wise, Material wise and batch wise variance analysis and create dashboard for the same. Interact with team with Field for Variance discussion, analysis and adhoc work.


What will you need to be Successful?


  • Education: Graduate or Post Graduate
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a multi-national environment and / or U.S. publicly traded company either via external Experience auditing clients with significant amounts of inventory, SOX compliance and integrated audits.
  • Very strong with MS Excel; SAP experience a plus
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Solid financial / accounting acumen.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively, work on multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to focus on the details while grasping the wider concepts.
  • Comfort level to work independently with limited or without direction.
  • Proficiency in English - Good verbal, written communication skills.
