Job Description

Job Description:

Job description: Intern - Fuel Properties
Team: Structures – Internal Flow & Data Analytics

Background:
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a cleaner alternative to conventional jet fuel. It significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the decarbonization of the aviation sector. SAF is predominantly generated by the HEFA route, with the current regulatory constraints in some parts of the world, it is inevitable to explore other feed stocks like biomass. This said the development and optimization of SAF by the thermochemical conversion of biomass will provide an alternative route of SAF generation to the HEFA route. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is essential to evaluate the environmental performance of these alternative routes, ensuring that the entire production chain—feedstock cultivation, fuel conversion, and distribution—meets sustainability criteria and achieves significant carbon savings.

Role:
Conduct literature reviews
Modeling techniques available for the biomass to SAF generation.
Effects of composition of the feedstock on the SAF yield/ composition.

Development of biomass to SAF model
To accurately simulate airflow, temperature distribution and comfort parameters within the cabin.
To develop smoke models for with available best practices
Finding suitable feed  stock for the SAF generation
