As an Electrical Engineering Intern at Medtronic’s Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) group, you will work with a talented and passionate team on exciting product improvement and engineering initiatives. You will have the opportunity to support the team in sustaining and enhancing Ventricular Assist Device systems that impact patients' lives. This is a hands-on internship where you will gain valuable real-world experience in electrical engineering, while working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and cross-functional environment.

Job Summary: 


As an Electrical Engineering Intern at Medtronic’s Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) group, you will work with a talented and passionate team on exciting product improvement and engineering initiatives. You will have the opportunity to support the team in sustaining and enhancing Ventricular Assist Device systems that impact patients' lives. This is a hands-on internship where you will gain valuable real-world experience in electrical engineering, while working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and cross-functional environment.


Key Responsibilities:


- Technical Support: Assist the engineering team in product improvement initiatives, quality investigations, and remediation projects.


- Hands-on Learning: Gain exposure to evaluating electrical schematics, circuit boards, and technical documentation to help resolve product issues and ensure quality.


- Data Analysis: Support analysis and troubleshooting of returned products to identify root causes and suggest design improvements.


- Testing and Verification: Assist in verification and validation testing, including setting up equipment, documenting test results, and writing reports.


- Component Changes: Work with senior engineers to assess component changes or obsolescence and help evaluate potential impacts on products.


- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to support electrical engineering processes and activities.


- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving and maintaining the quality systems and ensuring consistent implementation of best practices.


Qualifications:


- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.


- Understanding of basic electronics and electrical circuits.


- Strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn hands-on electrical engineering tasks.


- Familiarity with common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters is a plus.


- Excellent problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.


- Strong written and verbal communication skills.


- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.


Preferred Skills:


- Experience or coursework in schematic design and PCB layout tools (experience with Altium is a plus).


- Familiarity with embedded systems and/or medical device development.


- Knowledge of design for reliability, EMC testing, and/or CAPA processes is an advantage.


- A passion for medical technology and improving patient outcomes.
