About the position:
The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Project Support Engineer is part of the Process Engineering and Automation team within Chevron’s ENGINE Center and will offer comprehensive support throughout the lifecycle of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) projects in Upstream, Downstream and Midstream facilities. Provides project support for basic instrumentation design & selection, including final control element & control valves, setup and maintenance of engineering tools and applications such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI). This includes design, implementation and completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide end-to-end support for I&C projects, from initial design through to implementation and completion
Deliver technical assistance to typical project instrumentation and control (I&C) issues
Assist in the design and implementation of instrumentation devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices
Engage with various stakeholders to consolidate work processes from multiple locations into a centralized system
Use relationships and alignment skills to standardize and optimize work products and processes
Utilize instrumentation databases, and design tools (e.g., SmartPlant Instrumentation)
Work closely with Facilities, Design, & Solutions (FD&S) Chapters within Chevron Technical Center (CTC) and participate in Instrumentation, Controls, & Electrical (ICE) Community of Practice and associated Business Improvement Network (BIN) activities
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
Strong knowledge of field instrumentation and final control elements, process measurements, instrumentation databases, and design tools
Strong knowledge of field instrumentation and final control elements industry standards (e.g., API, ISA, NEMA, IEC)
Strong knowledge and understanding of industry practices and standards applicable to field instrumentation in the oil and gas industry (e.g., API, ISA, NEMA, IEC, etc.)
Knowledge of I&C project management and execution processes
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
