Job Description

The SRE will be responsible for documentation, deployment and troubleshooting of the complete IT Windows environment including, but not limited to: Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022, backup solutions (ideally NetBackup), VMware, IIS, Citrix XenApp, SQL Server, Automated Build Tools, Scripting (PowerShell, VBscript, .NET), HP Server support, BladeLogic. The goal of this position is to provide infrastructure support for all types of issue, deliver high quality solutions as part of a projects team, working to agreed standards and delivering on time. They will also be responsible for determining methods and procedures on technology deployment. It is expected that there will be an equal focus on both service and security and an awareness of both is essential.  


Responsibilities:


  • Delivers incident resolution and problem management to the server estate
  • Maintains the servers estate to a known, consistent standard
  • Undertakes administrative and BAU work on behalf of technical and business teams.
  • Performs remediation on computer hardware, software, and firmware, or makes changes to systems management software, to improve performance and eliminate problems.
  • Patching and vulnerability Management
  • Reviews, maintains and tests upgrades to the vendor software used for the support of the servers
  • Identifies, develops and implements new and expanded support services or, performance/tuning recommendations and changes in the workload mix, to meet user business requirements and ensure availability of resources.
  • Adherence to ITIL standards and processes
  • Will be required to work outside normal hours and be part of an out of hours on-call rotation

  • Database products, such as SQL

Knowledge/Skills:


  • Knowledge of Agile
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience with ticket tracking software, specifically Service Now
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to identify and implement technology and/or cost/process improvements
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to innovate
  • Ability to work without direction
  • Flexibility in working hours (on call, out of hours’ delivery)

Qualifications
  • Experience working in a server systems administrator function
