Job Overview: Pure Storage is seeking a highly skilled and innovative IAM Automation Engineer to join our Enterprise IAM team. This role is focused on building and maintaining automation frameworks to support Identity and Access Management (IAM) services. The ideal candidate will have expertise in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and a proven ability to automate lifecycle management processes for users and applications. As a senior member of the team, you will define, build, and optimize IAM automation strategies to drive efficiency and scalability across the organization. As an IAM Engineer Level 4, you will assume a leadership role in defining problems and solutions, implementing automation and integration code, and driving innovation within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement automation frameworks for IAM services, enabling infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Automate lifecycle management processes for users and applications, including provisioning, de-provisioning, and access reviews.
  • Lead and coordinate activities of other team members, acting as a mentor and technical leader.
  • Write and maintain integration and automation code using modern scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand dependencies and ensure seamless integration of IAM services.
  • Optimize and reduce technical debt backlog for the IAM platform.
  • Design and define new functional tests to validate automation and integration workflows.
  • Identify root causes of issues within IAM services and develop scalable solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Serve as a senior administrator and service owner for at least one production IAM service.
  • Drive the adoption of IAM best practices, including zero-trust architecture and role-based access control (RBAC).
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmaps for IAM automation to stakeholders up to the Director level.
  • Utilize Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to prioritize and deliver high-impact automation projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.
  • Lead and coordinate activities of other personnel, acting as a Team Lead when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 8+ years of experience; or
    • Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience; or
    • PhD with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced expertise in IAM standards, protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, SCIM), and best practices.
    • Proficiency in automation tools and platforms such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
    • Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or other relevant languages.
    • Hands-on experience with IAM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure AD, Okta, SailPoint, CyberArk).
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)
    • Expertise in version control systems such as Git and implementing GitOps workflows.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Proven ability to lead and deliver complex automation projects.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and collaborate with team members.
