Mission Statement: General Environmental and Employee Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the environment including the broader community impacted by environmental hazards) and employees including: Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments Investigating accidents and environmental incidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental and employee health and safety Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization. Lead a team of HSE specialists (in Local Operating Unit and Projects) and contribute to improving Health, Safety and environmental (HSE) performance in the respective organization to ensure a exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment. Support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice. Facilitate delivery of support from Hub, BU and Center of Expertise (CoE) and ensure effective risk management through HSE excellence along Hitachi Energy’s Value chain. Your responsibilities: Reports HSE incidents. Feeds back on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across Hitachi Energy to management and employees. Reports progress on implementation of Hitachi Energy Group Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to Hitachi Energy and Business Unit level, as required. Implements policies and standards. Ensures area of responsibility is audited according to program for audit. Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local HSE law and Hitachi Energy’s policy, instructions and standards. Supports compliance with human rights, security and crisis management process. Facilitates HSE risks assessment by line management involving project management, site management team, contractors’ employees and workmen, i.e., those directly concerned by the hazards, and ensures all processes are implemented. Conduct and lead the basic concepts such like risk assessment and environmental aspects & impact assessment. Drives behavioral change through implementing Group-wide performance improvement programs and practices locally to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the respective organization. Engages external (e.g., customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on Hitachi Energy's HSE efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback. Cooperates with other functions, the CoE and business partners to drive HSE performance. Coach and guide all levels of management, supervisor, and employee at site and office levels to establish the safety culture, prevention activities and collaborative approach. Identify, plans and initiate training needs for Hitachi Energy employees and contractors’ staff when required. Participates in defining the annual budget for the area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial target and constraints. Ensures appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and used. Identifies, plans and initiates training need, e.g., for employees, site managers, and agree with, and ensures delivery of training from the CoE. Drives and ensures compliance with Hitachi Energy Operating System (e.g., ISO 14001 and ISO 45001). Participate the incident prevention program, workshop sessions and incident investigation and analysis studies. Engage on pre tendering safety documents as per customer requirements & involve on risk review at tendering stage. Participate on contractor HSE assessment and evaluation on selection stage, conduct safety briefing regarding requirements to potential contractors & how to ensure. Contributes to and/or plans and executes HSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (CR) related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors. Conduct and lead the basic concepts such like risk assessment and environmental aspects and impact assessment. Participate the internal and external audit of HSE management system. Ensures that the area of responsibility is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates, and develops direct/indirect subordinates within HR policies. Your background: Preferred bachelor’s degree or Diploma in electrical/ mechanical/ environmental engineering with relevant of 10-12 years of working on HSE field (Preferable to work on Sub-station business). Full time Safety course (at least 1 year), NEBOSH will be preferred. Completion of an OSHA training program is an added advantage. Strong technical knowledge in construction activities. Knowledge about workplace risk assessment methodologies and techniques. Strong Leadership and organization skills. Influence stakeholders' perspectives of requirements and activities. Proficient in all Microsoft Applications. Ability to Audit and Incident Reporting. Work with other Functional Teams in operations to create a safe environment for everyone. In depth knowledge of country legislation and procedures. Knowledge on environmental laws and regulations to review company practices. Good in verbal and written communication and demonstration. Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
