Software Planner (Level 3).
Researches, designs, plans, develops and/or evaluates new, advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design. Work typically includes in-depth assessment of the customer’s networked application needs, providing network modeling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Typical Education and Experience: Associates Degree or equivalent. 3 - 5 years of related experience.

Varian is seeking a Healthcare Software Planner. In this role you will:


A) Involve at early stages in any planning processes, activities and within the lifecycle of the Software Solution Projects to ensure accurate planning and to be aligned with current practices in countries in other regions within and outside of APAC.


B) Provide a high level of technical expertise and superior customer service to Varian customers to achieve minimal disruptions and maximum clinical availability of Varian products functioning safely to the highest standard of quality.


This opportunity is suitable for a candidate who has a minimum of 4 Years’ work experience with Software Solutions in Multi-vendor Healthcare IT Environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a structured working methodology, and the ability to collaborate across functions of the company, our customers, and 3rd party contractors.


The Role/Attributes


  • Comfortable working with internal teams serving as a technology resource to develop complex Implementation Plans.
  • Comfortable leading infrastructure-related discussions expanding to all clinical & IT levels.
  • Experience developing trust with clients in pre-project capacity, demonstrated through consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes and setting proper expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with Strong customer services acumen.
  • Experience planning, managing, and troubleshooting deployment of software and IT infrastructure is desirable.
  • Ensures appropriate response, escalation and cost-effective solutions are used to meet the requirements of regulatory, quality, safety and contractual obligations.
  • Experience with implementing cloud solutions and virtualized server platforms is desirable.
  • General knowledge of network design, security systems, software controls systems, and server management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the use and deployment of software in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in oncology service lines is most desirable, particularly Varian products.
  • Experience developing System Topology diagrams with Visio to visually present a customer’s technical environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 years of related experience or master’s degree with 3 years of related experience.
  • Interpret upgrade quotes for customers & make sure all item versions and installed are accounted for.
  • Continually reach out to product teams to keep updated on the latest releases/latest updates and any new requirements for the product suite.
  • Remain current on notes/software installation manuals to keep informed of changes to the way products are installed.
  • Perform tasks assigned by Direct Manager as needed.

What Is Needed to Succeed


  • Minimum 4 Years’ work experience with Software solutions in Multi-vendor Healthcare IT Environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Planning, co-ordination and time management skills to reach solutions on schedule.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks & deliver under pressure.
  • Requires no day-to-day supervision, understands when and from whom to seek guidance when needed.
  • Willing to learn and grow with passion, energy, and drive that can bring creative ideas, critical thinking, and a strong appetite for project execution.
  • Graduate of University or Technical Institute in computer sciences, software engineering/information technology or related fields/equivalent education or relevant experience.

Other Requirements


  • Flexibility around working hours; depending on Customer Hospitals’ schedules, work may be scheduled for weekend and/or outside of regular business hours.
  • Acts as a loyal representative of Varian, showing confidence in the company and the company’s products.
  • Liaising with all Varian teams to foster an environment of co-operation and resolution.
  • Work-related Travel (as required) within & outside of APAC.
  • Availability to attend training over several weeks outside of APAC (as required).
