It has published articles by more than 200 Nobel Prize winners and reaches more than 6 million people around the world each month through its website, print and digital editions, newsletters and app. It reaches millions more through social media and other platforms.Job Title: Head of Reviewer EngagementLocation: Pune/HeidelbergAbout the RoleThe Head of Reviewer Engagement leads a diverse multidisciplinary team tasked with engaging and mobilizing peer reviewers across all Springer Nature journals. The role is responsible for creating and implementing reviewer training, reviewer communications, and reviewer reward strategies. Working with stakeholders across the business, but primarily within Research Publishing, Marketing, SNAPP and Product and Platform Group (PPG), the role-holder will create and maintain a network of tens of thousands of Trusted Reviewers (TRs); TRs motivated to advance science by providing timely and appropriate peer review reports. Reviewer satisfaction is crucial to the success of the team: NPS and CSAT scores are therefore key metrics managed by the role.Responsibilities:1. Engagement Strategy: Own Springer Nature’s reviewer engagement strategy. Using the Recruit, Train, Support, Reward framework, build closer relationships with early career researchers to drive them to become Trusted Reviewers. Responsibilities include:The overarching reviewer engagement strategy, including governance, best practice and reportingServing as the lead contact for reviewer communications, advising on Springer Nature projects related to reviewers, their engagement and communication with themRepresenting the needs of reviewers as a key stakeholder on cross-portfolio project steering groups and chairing associated working groups dedicated to engaging our reviewersAligning the reviewer engagement strategy with the editor engagement strategy to ensure that the reviewer and editor strategies complement and support the goals of the organisationWorking closely with product managers in PPG and SNAPP to ensure the reviewer strategy is delivered through key technologies2. Reviewer identification: Build on existing processes to identify and invite early career researchers to join the Trusted Reviewer community. Responsibilities include:Working with the Head of Editorial Board Resourcing to create a standardised on boarding experience for our reviewers and editorsIncreasing the number of early career researchers who volunteer to become Trusted Reviewers so that volunteering – as opposed to direct candidate sourcing – becomes the dominant method of recruitmentActing as the reviewer subject matter expert for the Salesforce recruitment platformAligning the Trusted Reviewer recruitment strategy with the editor recruitment strategy so that in the long-term, reviewer/editor identification and recruitment is managed centrally3. Reviewer Training and Support: Own Springer Nature’s Trusted Reviewer training programme, providing reviewers with the skills and experience to deliver timely and constructive peer review reports, creating a pathway for reviewers to fill other editorial roles in future. Responsibilities include:Collaborating with stakeholders across the business to deliver a network of tens of thousands of trained Trusted ReviewersCreating a first-class training programme that normalises reviewer training and ensures all reviewers can perform their duties in line with Springer Nature policies and best practiceWorking with other stakeholders (Editor Engagement, Nature Masterclasses Online) to deliver online reviewer training in an engaging and user-friendly wayDevising and overseeing the roadmap for the development of new training content to drive uptake and understanding of key concepts Evaluating training effectiveness to improve training and modify training outputs as appropriate4. Reviewer Reward and Recognition: Own Springer Nature’s reviewer reward programme, providing reviewers with recognition for their contribution to the journals. Responsibilities include:Defining and implementing how Springer Nature recognizes and rewards the work of our reviewersIntegrating the reviewer reward offering with the wider SN Honors programManaging the development and integration of the Reviewer Awards program5. Team Management: Ensure team resources are effectively deployed to meet the needs of the organization and individual team members.
