Role:
 


The Head of Procurement will lead and manage the procurement department, overseeing the strategic sourcing of materials, services, and goods required for the company’s operations. This role will be responsible for driving cost savings, optimizing supplier relationships, managing procurement risks, and ensuring the company’s purchasing activities align with corporate goals and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement strategy, supplier management, and team leadership.
Your responsibilities
 


Procurement Strategy & Planning:


o Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet organizational needs while ensuring cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and quality.


o Identify and lead opportunities for strategic sourcing, vendor consolidation, and process improvements.


o Collaborate with key stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain) to align procurement goals with business objectives.
Team Leadership:


o Lead, mentor, and manage a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.


o Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and implement professional development programs to enhance team skills and capabilities.
Supplier Management & Negotiations:


o Identify and establish strong, long-term relationships with suppliers and key vendors.


o Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favorable agreements for the company.


o Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and compliance, and work to resolve any issues that arise.
Cost Management & Budgeting:


o Oversee the procurement budget, ensuring effective cost management, reporting, and the achievement of savings targets.


o Analyze procurement spend and identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising on quality or operational efficiency.


Risk Management & Compliance:


o Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, industry standards, and legal/regulatory requirements.


o Identify potential risks in the supply chain and procurement process, proactively developing mitigation plans.


o Stay up to date on market trends, pricing, and new procurement technologies to continuously refine procurement strategies.


Sustainability & Ethical Sourcing:


o Drive sustainable procurement initiatives and support the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals.


o Ensure ethical sourcing practices are followed across all categories of procurement.


What you bring


Experience:


  • 15+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 5-7 years in a senior or leadership role.


  • Proven experience in managing a procurement team and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives.


  • Strong background in negotiation, supplier management, and cost optimization.
    Skills & Competencies:


  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.


  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making.


  • Expertise in contract law, regulatory compliance, and procurement best practices.


  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.

Education:


Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/ production engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree in SCM or Operations management is a plus.
