Job Description:
As Ground support equipment (GSE) Designer and stress analyst, you create tooling solutions allowing Airbus customers to perform the specific maintenance actions needed to maintain their aircraft fleet airworthy. You also have to assess the durability and safety of the GSE solutions by defining/developing stress calculation models complying with Airbus methodology.
In this position, you develop GSE solutions providing Airbus customers with the best in class experience, with regard to safety, ergonomics and practicality but as well in terms of recyclability and affordability.
You report operationally to the HO Maintenance Services India and functionally to the GSE Programme Manager based in Europe.
About Maintenance & Retrofit engineering
Maintenance & Retrofit engineering is a department of ~700 people based in Toulouse (France), Hamburg & Bremen (Germany), Getafe (Spain), Filton (UK), Mobile (US), Beijing (China), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Bangalore (India). Our main missions are:
Retrofit Solutions: Deliver and Support added value Retrofit solution packages to maintain continued aircraft airworthiness and improve Customers Operations & profitability
Maintenance Program Engineering: Deliver customer value through an array of services (from business development to the preparation of Planned Maintenance Service products, maintenance program optimization exercises and Parking & Storage)
Scheduled Maintenance Services: Support the operation and maintenance of all Airbus aircraft and all customers worldwide, from development of initial requirements to deviation management and optimization of maintenance tasks.
GSE Engineering: Engineering activities related to GSE & Tools (including Design, Services, Manufacturing Engineering & Front desk) for all Airbus aircraft and all customers worldwide
Roles & Responsibilities
Understand the customer needs/requirements that might influence the final design
Accountable for design, development and support the GSE allocated to him/her
Perform the concept studies, trade-off studies and the final design of the GSE.
Perform the stress analysis for the GSE solutions designed in India
Support Europe GSE design office to assess the consistency of their stress analysis
Initiate Ground Support Equipment Tools development using aircraft Digital Mock Up (DMU) and adapt the GSE design to it from concept to production drawings and user guide. Consider design to manufacture and design to cost aspects in the activities.
Accountable for organising GSE prototyping, testing and First Article Inspection (FAI).
Accountable for Release GSE and customer support documents at the end of the production cycle.
