The Global Safety Officer will report to the Central Nervous System Therapeutic Area Head – General Medicine. This unit is part of the Global Patient Safety and Pharmacovigilance (PSPV) Department – Global R&D within Sanofi.
The Patient Safety & Pharmacovigilance (PSPV) aspiration is to be a cutting-age safety group, to enable us to optimize the benefit-risk profiles of our therapies, so we can best serve patients, care givers and health care professionals and other stakeholders.
As a Global Safety Officer in the field of General Medicine, you will provide medical input on the safety evaluation of drugs during their life cycle.
Main responsabilities:
The Global Safety Officer
Is the safety expert for products within their portfolio. Provides PV expertise to internal and external customers.
Communicates and represents PV analyses and PV positions within project/product teams, in safety governance and benefit-risk governance activities and committees (e.g., Safety Management Committee, Benefit-Risk Assessment Committee), with external partners, key opinion leaders, and Health Authorities, and during internal and external negotiations.
Is responsible for signal detection and analysis, and coordination of safety surveillance activities for products within their portfolio.
Provides proactive risk assessment, develops risk management strategies and plans, and monitors effectiveness.
Co-leads benefit-risk assessment with other relevant functions.
Ensures generation, consistency, and quality of safety sections in submission documents and writes safety responses to health authorities’ questions.
Documents, coordinates, reviews, and validates periodic reports, e.g., RMP updates, Periodic Safety Update Reports.
Education & Work Experience
M.D. degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
For M.D., board-certified/board-eligible, or equivalent is preferred.
Experience in pharmacovigilance is required.
Soft and technical skills
Excellent clinical judgment and ability to synthesize and critically analyze data from multiple sources.
Ability to communicate complex clinical issues and analyses both orally and in writing.
Able to develop and document sound risk assessments.
Demonstrates initiative and capacity to work under pressure.
Demonstrates leadership within a cross-functional team environment.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills are required.
