The Global Head of Issue Assurance will lead the Bank’s Issue assurance function within Internal Audit, ensuring that identified audit issues, regulatory findings, and control weaknesses are effectively remediated. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing a robust risk-based framework for validating issue closure, maintaining Internal Audit and regulatory expectations, and enhancing the bank’s overall control environment. The position requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance within a global financial institution.

What you will be responsible for


As a Global Head of Issue Assurance Vice President Team you will:


  • Define and implement the strategy, framework, and methodology for issue assurance, ensuring alignment with internal policies, Internal audit standards, methodology and industry best practices.
  • Establish governance and oversight mechanisms to track, validate, and report on issue remediation and validation progress across the Bank.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and senior management within and outside of Internal Audit.
  • Establish a best-in-class issue assurance function and lead independent validation of issue remediation, ensuring completeness, sustainability, and alignment with root cause analysis with a high performing team.
  • Design and execute risk-based approach to testing remediation actions, focusing on critical risks and provide credible challenge to management’s remediation efforts, escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Design and develop structured training program to onboard interns, auditors and enhance the skills required for issue assurance, validation methodologies and prepare auditor of the future by partnering with Learning and Development teams to leverage existing training resources and integrate issue assurance training into the broader audit professional development initiatives
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit teams and business leaders to drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and enhance tools, dashboards, and analytics to improve issue tracking, reporting and insights.
  • Ability to manage a team of young professionals, developing the expertise across risk, finance, compliance, custody, middle office, alternatives, derivatives and technology areas to effectively execute issue assurance activities.
  • Effectively work with new and changing situations, including new industry regulations, where there may not always be a readily apparent solution.

Education & Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong analytical and critical thinking, written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Professional with 15+ years assurance experience focusing on Financial Services. Familiarity with global banking regulatory framework and knowledge of risk, finance, custodian activities, asset management, capital markets will be helpful.
  • Professional certification (such as CA, CPA, CIA or CISA)  a plus.
  • Good understanding of auditing techniques, data analytics strategies, tools, concepts and principles including risk and control environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing global teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to execute concurrent projects in a fast paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines and improving operational efficiency.

Additional requirements


While majority of the time you will work from your primary location, some domestic and international travel may be required to a variety of locations where State Street operates.
