Role description:


Aligned with the Arcadis strategy and the GBA-GEC Growth Partnership Program, this position is pivotal in understanding business demands and translating them into a clear service delivery strategy. The role focuses on developing and retaining a skilled, diverse workforce that meets both short- and long-term requirements for asset management services within GEC, catering to global mobility markets. Additionally, it involves effectively managing talent demand and supply across various locations to create adaptable and efficiently utilized teams.  



As a senior leader within our Global Excellence Centre (GEC), this role collaborates closely with global asset management leadership and acts as a catalyst for building asset management capabilities serving our Business Areas (BA) in Canada, USA, UK, Central Europe and Australia across the Mobility sector.  



As Discipline Director, you will lead and manage GEC Mobility Asset Management and Transport Planning business operations across our three GEC locations (India, Romania and Philippines). This role reports directly to the GEC Director – Mobility and working alongside the other Discipline Directors. 



Role accountabilities:


  • Build Asset Management Capability: Establish necessary asset management capabilities in GEC to support eight geographic locations and drive growth in alignment with global strategies. 

  • Define Operating Model: Develop an asset management operating model for GEC, focusing on engineering, analytical, and digital skills that enhance end-to-end asset management delivery. 

  • Leverage Global Community: Utilize the existing global asset management community to drive technical leadership and excellence within Arcadis's mobility sector. 

  • Translate Market Needs: Collaborate with global Mobility GBA leads to interpret end-market needs and convert them into actionable demand signals for GEC. 

  • Establish Relationships: Forge effective working relationships with global AM service leads and GBA leads to ensure an integrated approach in delivering comprehensive asset management solutions. 

  • Drive and Implement Standardization: Grow and deliver asset management solutions by standardizing and automating services, enhancing existing capabilities while developing new ones working with others in Arcadis leading in this initiative. 

  • Create Resilience: Develop flexible approaches that foster resilience within GEC teams to meet the evolving demands of global mobility markets, ensuring continued growth as a key delivery arm of Arcadis's global AM business. 

  • Set Strategic Objectives: Define strategic objectives for the GEC AM team, motivating both self and team members to achieve agreed outcomes. 

Responsibilities: 



  • Provide professional leadership in the Discipline at a senior management level, establishing and consolidating relationships with leadership and senior staff in BA offices. 


  • Working with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development to ensure business needs can be met in advance. 

  • Drive a culture of project delivery excellence within the discipline, ensuring that adequate talent is available and assigned to lead on project delivery from a technical and task management perspective.  

  • Communicate change and manage transformation within the team, aligned to the strategic direction of the company and GECs.  

  • Develop and implement workforce plans regarding building capability and capacity of the teams over the medium to long term in consultation with GEC BA Business Partners, Workforce Planners, Service Delivery Managers and GEC Director. 

  • Manage day to day workload within the teams to ensure that direct and indirect hour targets are achieved, working in close collaboration with the Workforce Planner.  

  • Ensure a strong focus on career development, driving a culture of best practice around GPS and empowerment of staff to own the development of their careers. 

  • Foster a strong culture of health and safety awareness and practices within the teams, setting a leadership example and holding senior staff to account. 

  • Manage staff engagement levels and attrition by drawing insights from tools such as YourVoice, identifying engagement drivers and developing and implementing action plans to ensure a well engaged team. 

  • Accountable for delivery of key operational metrics within discipline such as hourly and cost billability, management of software usage, overtime and other relevant metrics associated with Discipline teams. 

  • Supporting the end markets in Business development e.g. creating the brochures, value prepositions, client pitches, etc. 

Key shared accountabilities: 



  • Planning and delivery of GEC targets 

  • GEC involvement in pursuit process 

  • Understanding of GEC capability and capacity to deliver GEC implementation plan 


Qualifications & Experience:


The candidate should have a degree-qualified and demonstrate relevant experience working in engineering and Asset Management within transportation / mobility sector. The candidate will be able to inspire multi-disciplinary teams around a common purpose and demonstrate significant leadership capability.  



The candidate should demonstrate a strong capacity for intellectual, professional, and interpersonal adaptability and flexibility. Possessing robust commercial insight is essential to assist GEC participation during the pursuit stage, while engaging with BA stakeholders and senior GEC personnel collaboratively.
