Mechanical Integrity engineer with specialization in rotor dynamics is responsible for Rotor dynamic calculation of gas turbine using inhouse built software and commercial software such as ANSYS. In addition to the rotor-dynamics, engineer also responsible to carry out finite element (FE) analysis & hand calculations validate the designs of assembly, manufacturing and transportation tools used for Gas turbine.


Need to work within the team and with cross functional teams. Job involves in creating numerical models, running analysis and postprocessing and documenting the results. Required use the knowledge of Mechanical vibrations, Engineering mechanics, Finite element methods and Gas turbine fundamentals.


Job also requires regular interaction with global teams in USA, Germany, and Sweden. Hence, engineer should have strong communication skills and cross-cultural knowledge.


The selected candidate will report to whole engine module manager within Siemens Gas Turbine Engineering at Gurgaon.


Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:


  • Rotor-dynamic calculation of Gas Turbine standalone and shaft trains (including Generator, Steam Turbine etc.) – Lateral Eigen modes, Torsional Eigen modes, Forced unbalance response, integrity assessment of couplings, integrity assessment of shaft trains under electrical fault conditions, optimal shaft train alignment calculation etc.
  • Finite element analysis of Gas Turbine components using ANSYS
  • Rotor-dynamic model development using NX and Ansys.
  • Ownership of the rotor-dynamics for various Gas Turbine designs, including update and design review
  • Maintaining documentation with interfaces like Engineering, Manufacturing, Service etc.
  • Work with project leads to understand the requirements, provide engineering data, timelines and deliver related design activities within the agreed timeline.
  • Rapid support of design trade studies during development work
  • Preparing requests for tests. Model tuning and support during engine tests and field issue resolution
  • Risk assessments (FMEA) and participate in Root-Cause investigations for Gas Turbine systems.

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:


  • Bachelor / master’s degree in mechanical engineering discipline from recognized university with Machine Design / Dynamics as major subjects
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in turbo machinery rotor-dynamics and experience in finite element analysis.
  • Proficiency in more than one of computational modeling tools – NX, Ansys Workbench, MATLAB.
  • Some working knowledge in Linux environment – Shell commands / Python script is added advantage
  • Experience or knowledge about Gas Turbine and general power plant. Knowledge about Fault Diagnosis is added advantage
