About the teamThe Regulatory And Compliance Engineering organization is composed of multiple teams that ensure Stripe has the best-in-class automated frameworks for meeting our external financial regulatory obligations while raising the bar for internal financial data compliance processes. We deliver accurate, timely, and reliable reporting based on robust, immutable, and trustworthy data sources.
Working closely with our business partners and regulatory experts, we build data pipelines and reporting capabilities to respond to a highly complex and ever changing regulatory environment while maintaining the trust and confidence of regulators. In addition to that, our Engineers operate Stripe’s ledger, which is the authoritative source of record for all money movement at Stripe.
What you’ll doResponsibilities
- Collaborate across the company, including engineering, accounting, financial partnerships and product teams, to analyze and respond to regulatory reporting, tax and accounting requirements by combining data from multiple upstream data sources.
- Build simple, usable dashboards to facilitate the delivery of reports for our regulatory reporting partners as well as communicate clear data to internal stakeholders.
- Interface with Stripe’s partners across the world to drive alignment between their products and how Stripe uses them, and hold Stripe’s partners accountable to resolve day-to-day operational breakages.
- Independently scope systematic ways to automate manual processes and drive cross-functional initiatives to successful conclusions.
Who you areWe’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements- 3+ years of experience in a Data Analytics, Technical Operations, Business Intelligence or similar role
- Proficiency with Advanced SQL and have experience building data pipelines / ETL processes.
- Have experience navigating the nuanced complexity of financial systems and solving large scale, technical challenges.
- Have experience managing communications and workflows with technical and non-technical teams across internal and external stakeholders (including external financial partners and vendors).
- Have strong analytical skills to investigate, prioritize, and identify the root cause of issues.
- Experience working across multiple teams and organizations to drive fundamental change and improving processes.
Preferred qualifications- Experience working with regulatory or compliance reporting
- Experience with accounting / double-entry ledger principles
- Experience with distributed data frameworks like Hadoop and Spark to write and debug data pipelines.
- Good understanding of development processes and best practices like engineering standards, code reviews, and testing.
