Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lake Water Intern to join our team. The successful candidate will be hands-on with freshwater systems and contribute to various aspects of water sampling and biological analysis. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in environmental science and water quality management.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct water sampling from various lakes and/or freshwater bodies
Measure physico-chemical parameters of water like pH, Conductivity, DO, COD etc
Perform microscopic identification of phytoplankton, other microorganisms etc
Estimate Chlorophyll a concentration
Hands on with sediment sampling
Assist scientists in the field during water sampling and on-site measurements
Assist in Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) treatment processes
Prepare and review detailed reports and documentation of findings
Communicate results and observations effectively to the scientific team
Contact local Universities for potential collaboration
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Science/Botany/Biology/ Aquaculture/Chemistry or any related field
Knowledge and experience in water sampling techniques and biological sampling
Proficiency in microscopic observation and identification of phytoplankton
Understanding of Chlorophyll a estimation methods
Strong communication and documentation skills
Enthusiasm for working outdoors and conducting fieldwork
Working Conditions:
This position requires frequent travel to various lakes and freshwater bodies
Fieldwork may involve working in different weather conditions and potentially remote locations
The role demands physical activity, including carrying equipment and conducting sampling on-site
