Role Description
- The Business control Unit (BCU) is a global function of the 1st Line of Defence (1LoD) responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring the non-financial risk framework (NFR). The team interfaces between the 2nd and 3rd Line of Defence, DCO Functions and to the Regulators for 1LOD concerns. The function runs a complex change agenda in addition to meeting regulatory governance and reporting.
- The role will report into Deutsche Bank’s Head of Fixed Income and Currency (FIC) BCU. The FIC division spans multiple products and markets including Global Foreign Exchange (GFX), Rates, Global Financing and Credit Trading (GFCT), Global Emerging Markets (GEM), Counterparty Portfolio Management and Cross Product Structuring

Your key responsibilities
- Lead the transformation of 1LOD FIC Control Operating hub to a fully onshore model whereby the Control Unit will operate all 1LOD controls globally with a supporting control change team to facilitate continuous remediation and embed a sustainable control environment.
- Manage portfolio of pan-FIC remediation following assurance processes, both Regulatory and internal, and FIC read across process that self identifies gaps. Develop and implement remediation plans accordingly.
- Set strategy and implementation plans to achieve target operating model.
- Leadership over the Control Operation team, embed best practices for continuous improvement and build expertise for the control hub to be key contacts for associated control assurance walk-throughs and to own corresponding remediation
- Shape, develop and implement an approach to perform review to optimize all 1LOD controls leveraging automation and AI technologies to create efficiency, cost save and stability
- Building partnerships with stakeholders across Trading & Sales and Infrastructure and play a key controls advisory role within FIC Trading.
Your skills and experience
- Investment Banking experience, preferably within Front Office and with exposure Compliance, Non-Financial Risk, and Audit functions. Prior experience to effectively liaise with Trading and supporting functions to plan and co-ordinate across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong strategy setting and planning skills with the ability to co-ordinate and drive change across multiple stakeholders and effectively liaise with all supporting functions
- Experience in Designing and operating 1LOD controls and associated risks. Role would benefit candidate that has either performing control assurance processes or been subject to assurance as a control owner
- Highly motivated to drive change, self-reliant and structured way of working with high willingness to take responsibility, and ability to deliver highest level of quality under time pressure
- Proven track record organizational development, including talent, diversity, and inclusion
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and present in a compelling manner including to senior management.
