About the Role:


We are looking for a Data Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our data team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data infrastructure, extensive experience with Hadoop/Hive, Snowflake, SQL, Informatica/IICS, and Unix, and a passion for turning data into insights that drive business value.


Software Requirements:

Overall Responsibilities:


  • Design, build, and operationalize large-scale enterprise data solutions and applications using one or more of Hadoop/Hive, Snowflake, SQL, and Informatica/IICS.
  • Analyze, re-architect and re-platform on-premise data warehouses to data platforms on Snowflake cloud.
  • Implement data engineering pipelines within Big Data ecosystems.
  • Develop complex SQL queries for data analysis and data extraction.
  • Create ETL scripts and pipelines to support new data initiatives and ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating, managing, and utilizing an enterprise data warehouse and related data marts.

Technical Skills:


  • Data Analysis and Management: Proficiency in managing Hadoop/Hive ecosystems, data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Cloud Data Warehousing: Experience with Snowflake's cloud data warehousing solutions for scaling and managing large data volumes.
  • SQL Expertise: Advanced SQL skills for complex query writing, data manipulation, and analysis.
  • ETL Development: Solid experience with Informatica/IICS for developing and maintaining ETL processes.
  • Unix/Linux Proficiency: Comfortable with Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, and command-line tools.

Experience:


  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering.
  • Proven experience with handling large-scale data projects and familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem.
  • Experience working with Snowflake and migrating data to cloud platforms.
  • Solid understanding and experience with SQL and ETL processes.
  • Practical experience with Unix/Linux system administration and scripting.

Day-to-Day Activities:


  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements.
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines and data streams.
  • Manage and optimize data warehouse solutions.
  • Maintain data quality and oversee data flow between databases and systems.
  • Work closely with the IT team to resolve any issues related to data infrastructure.

Qualification:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications related to Hadoop/Hive, Snowflake, SQL, Informatica/IICS, or Unix are advantageous.

Soft Skills:


  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and to adapt to changing technological landscapes.
