Equity Markets Correspondent, India


Reuters Bangalore is seeking an Equity Markets Correspondent to cover the stock markets in Asia's third-largest economy. The ideal candidate will excel in writing about the Indian financial market throughout the day and reporting on top market-related breaking news in the region.


About the Role:


  • The India team writes stories on everything from struggling fintechs to conglomerates led by some of Asia’s richest men while also tracking the twists and turns in one of the world’s fastest-growing stock markets.
  • The team also spearheads economic data coverage in the Indian and Sri Lankan markets and delivers high-profile breaking news alerts to clients at speed.
  • We seek an astute reporter who can think on their feet, multitask under intense pressure, and has a sound understanding of financial markets coverage at Reuters. Experience in covering financial markets news is preferred but not essential, while the ability to write quickly and accurately in adherence to Reuters style is crucial.
  • The reporter should also have a proven track record of covering stories with accuracy, speed, and impartiality.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the India Team Leads and the Markets Sector Specialist, contributing actively to the team's market coverage for our global audience.

About You:


The Equity Markets Correspondent, India, will be expected to:


  • Have a sound understanding of financial markets coverage at Reuters
  • Be adept at tracking market-moving news and covering it concisely
  • Build knowledge about the Indian financial market and contribute to the daily file
  • Support the team in meeting quality targets for accuracy and speed and continually improve performance
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues in Mumbai to coordinate coverage and ensure smooth team operations
  • Anchor the team’s buzzing file
  • Experience with Reuters Editorial tools, like Lynx Fastwire, is an advantage
