A Day in the LifeWe are looking for a talented Sofware Engineer II for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. The individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the software development process. A Day in the Life


  • Design and develop software supporting medical devices, in compliance with applicable regulations and processes.
  • Work with team members to develop software requirements. This includes defining the user interface, defining the software interface by working with firmware and systems engineers, receiving input from industry experts. Solicit user requirements from internal and external clients. Write software requirements and review the written requirements of others.
  • Work effectively with other team members.
  • Design software in conformance with current industry object oriented guidelines and design patterns used in the existing software.
  • Implement software requirements and designs using C#,.Net Framework, .Net Core, MAUI, Kotlin, and Swift. Review software developed by other team members.
  • Good Knowledge of Software Design Patterns.
  • Test own software and the software of others. Document test designs and results. Review the test designs and test results of other team members.
  • Perform Code Reviews, Static Code Analysis , Dynamic Code Analysis
  • Under the direction of a more experienced engineer, prepare plans for your own work, participate in technical reviews, implement advances in current state-of-the-art technology and identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement. Test for product integration and verification, conducting those tests based on design specifications, and prepare formal documentation.
  • Must be a team player.  Must have qualities including being positive, high standards, resilient, open, and creative.
  • Takes pride in quality, extensible, and maintainable work products.  Demonstrates excellent coding practices.
  •  Commitment to achieving and exceeding project goals and timelines.
  • Thrives in working with other disciplines to develop system-minded implementations that take into account safety, performance, communication, user interface and other aspects of a final product.

Must Have


Minimum Qualification


  • B.E or B.Tech in Computer Sciences, Electronics or Electrical Engineer or higher  with 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming skills using C#,.Net Framework, .Net Core, MAUI, Kotlin, and Swift.
  • Experience with integrated development environment such as Open Source development platform/tools, ex. Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, TFS/Git, Azure DevOps.
  • Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices

Principal Working Relationship


  • Reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Engineering Manager
  • Accountable to Principal or Senior Software Engineer(s) and/or Project Manager(s) for project-related responsibilities
  • The Engineer frequently interacts with Senior Developer, Tech Lead, other developers, V&V engineers, internal partners and stakeholders concerning estimations, design, implementation or requirement clarifications, works closely with global sites.
  • Communicates primarily with internal contacts within immediate group. Contacts others to gather, confirm and convey information

Nice to Haves


Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
