Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Performs requirement reviews or sprint planning sessions and develops understanding of expectations
  • Translates business and technical requirements into test cases, test scenarios and scripts
  • Assists in evaluating testability of business and technical requirements based on business/functional requirement document, use cases, user stories and/or solution design documents
  • Provides feedback on the target technical specifications from testability and feasibility point of view
  • Evaluates quality of business requirements for medium to large projects based on Business Requirement Document (BRD), use cases and/or solution design documents
  • Sorts and helps establish systems environment standards, and quality parameters and targets
  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to create a structured project test plan for all functional and technical system components, and defines assumptions, risks and user acceptance criteria
  • Assists in documenting custom testing frameworks and requirement traceability matrix
  • Assists with setup and maintenance of test environments for both manual and automated testing
  • Leverages manual testing methodologies: functional testing, integration testing, white box testing, black box testing, and regression testing
  • Explores edge cases and drives quality with development teams
  • Gathers test result data, assigns severity levels to issues, and documents accurate system response
  • Performs initial analysis of defects, conducts root cause analysis, and escalates issues as per protocols
  • Establishes processes and tool sets to maintain manual test scripts and generates regular test reports for faster bug tracking and rapid reporting
  • Partners with senior quality engineers to simplify and modernize testing tools and techniques to ensure code maximum coverage and constantly improve the ways of testing the products
  • Actively participates in requirement/design reviews; identifies gaps during reviews and probes for detailed explanation of expectations
  • Actively participates in the creation of artifacts as part of the Adaptive Solution Framework SDLC

Skills and Experience


  • Requires a minimum of five years experience as a software testing engineer, in roles having progressive responsibilities
  • Proficiency in front-end and back-end testing of configurable off-the-shelf solutions and custom applications, which may be client server, web-based, or mobile
  • Requires strong integration testing skills for testing APIs with internal and external endpoints, including utilizing Postman and analyzing XMLs and JSON.
  • Proficiency in SQL back-end end testing is required
  • Experience with testing NoSQL databases, especially Couchbase, is desired
  • Mobile testing experience is a plus
  • Proficiency using mobile simulators, such as LambdaTest is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) and Azure DevOps (ADO) are a plus.
  • Must be comfortable working with a global team of IT members, business stakeholders, contractors, and vendor partners
  • Prior experience testing solutions for health, transportation, or other regulated industries is a plus

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any other related discipline or equivalent related experience.

Preferred Certifications:


  • Certified Associate in Software Testing
  • Certified Software Quality Analyst
  • Certified Test Engineer

WORK EXPERIENCE:


  • 2+ years of directly-related or relevant experience, preferably in system/software quality and testing.
