How You will Contribute:


Your Role  


Following will be your responsibility as an OTN Embedded Test Engineer:


You will be responsible for generation, co-ordination and execution of test plans for the Converged Packet Optical product lines with the objective of ensuring the release required software and hardware implementation meet customer requirement, approval and certification criteria.   You will also be responsible for becoming the local subject matter expert and related standards development and interpretation of customer requirements specifications in order to provide guidelines to Corporate R&D members for feature implementations.


Your Responsibilities 


  • Take test delivery for a feature or a group of features.  Understanding end-to-end feature requirements at individual and architecture level.  In depth knowledge of the hardware and protocols involved, their dependencies and their role within the product architecture. 
  • Thorough understanding of the impact of requirements across various releases.  Confidence to take on the architects and question every requirement for their individual validity and completeness towards the deliverable. 
  • Ownership of potential internal/external customer prototype demonstration when opportunity furnish.Assist in standardization and interoperability lab testing.
  • Provide support for Senior Engineers through collecting log files, software upgrades, execution of the assigned test cases.
  • Develop, execute and automate test plans to validate customer use-cases and product capabilities and Requirements
  • Execution of manual and automation end-to-end feature testing.  Due diligence to make sure the test cases cover the complete landscape of feature being tested. 
  • Ensure test environment sufficiency of traffic generators, cards, and system set up and making sure it is ready for completion of the work.  Deliver the manual and automation test results within given quality parameters. 
  • Follow through the test results with design groups to reproduce and debug.  Assist PV groups towards post LA execution issues towards smooth release of the feature.
  • Coordinate activities across test and development teams across sites on a need basis
  • Develop customer deliverable requirement use cases.  Interact with PLM, architects and release managers to weed out uncertainties and ambiguities in requirements.  Understand the landscape of competitive usage of a feature and incorporate as a deliverable in present release or influence it to be part of future releases. 
  • Contribute to IETF and company's intellectual properties (Patents, White papers).Monitor industry standards and data application trends & alert senior management of potential roadblocks in product development

The Must Haves:


  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study
  • Hands on Experience of L1 Optical Routing and Switching testing aspects: Functional, System, Performance and Scale
  • Hands-on experience required as following :
    • L1 OTN Switching /Control Plane/ Coherent optics/Plugs/Layer 1 Test methodologies & test environment like TL1/end to end solid packet Optical network solution understanding with hands on experience of L1 Optical networking Test Standards
    • Thorough understanding of Requirement anlysis, functional spec and should be able to translate the same into meaningful and intelligent test plans with Usecases close to customer deployments
    • In-depth understanding on using Traffic generators for Optical traffic (ONT Testset) ; Packet knowledge is good to have
    • L2/L3 traffic generators/analyzers: IXIA (IxNetwork), Spirent
    • Automation Development knowledge and experience in writing Python scripts
    • Smart & flexible engineer open to take up any challenges and turn into opportunity
  • Experience working in Agile and Waterfall models of development
  • Experience in both manual and automated testing environments
