The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2600+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries. 


Mission Statement:


Electrical Engineer is responsible for optimize distribution transformer designs for global factories and utilize & apply the results of design optimization tools to enhance transformer performance and efficiency. Electrical Engineer will be reporting to team manager of INOPC TR Digital & Design Optimization team


 Your responsibilities:


  • Part of an International Engineering and Development Team specialized in Distribution Transformers Design Optimization.


  • Optimize distribution transformer designs for global factories.


  • Utilize and apply the results of design optimization tools to enhance transformer performance and efficiency.


  • Work closely with factory engineers and  Global R&D Teams and optimize designs.


  • Assist global design engineers with the design optimization tool, help designers to understand and use tool.


  • Provide feedback for improving existing algorithms in the Optimization System, and for streamlining these algorithms.


  • Able to Adapt working for different countries and different time zones. Have positive team atmosphere and networking.

Your background:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering  (Master’s degree is an advantage).


  • 4 to 6 years experience in Electrical design for Distribution Transformers with a focus on optimization and raw material cost reduction.


  • Proven academic or professional experience in Transformer Design. Practical oriented and skilled in transformer engineering aspects of optimization.


  • Experience in developing optimization tools for electrical devices is a plus.


  • Understanding of Transformer Electrical Design, including Thermal, Dielectrics, Short circuit, and sound performance.


  • Experience with Optimization software is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.


  • Data and database handling (SQL, PowerBI) is a plus.


  • Ability to work with technical teams across different parts of the world and work without supervision when required.


  • Demonstrated team building and networking skills are preferred. A team player who is open with information and willingly contributes to team discussions.


  • Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage. Quick learner with the ability to master new areas.


  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
