BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems business unit is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven Electrical Analysis Engineer/Senior Engineer for Electrical Hardware development as part of the Electrical Engineering competency at our Technical Centre India in Bengaluru.
Position Summary:
In this role, and under direct supervision of the Electrical engineering Manager, the Electrical Design engineer leads the design, development, and implementation of automotive electrical activities (as per achievement plans) using approved engineering processes to meet the needs of customers. Train and guide others in electrical design competency and serve as a technical resource to them. Assist manufacturing with technical support during pilot runs/tests, production start-up, and existing products. Meet the department's cost and quality goals. Act as a customer interface in all Electrical design activities.
Educational Qualifications : M.E/M.Tech in Power Electronics / Automotive Electronics / Electrical
Experience: 12+ years of work experience in Electrical and electronic Circuit Design, product development for Automotive ECUs/Inverters, Testing and Hardware debugging.

Major Job Responsibilities:


  • Leading in design, development, and implementation of automotive electrical activities (according to the   achievement plans) using approved engineering processes to meet customers’ requirements
  • Responsible for project deliverables and customer satisfaction – Schedule, Risks, Quality and Customer commitments.
  • Leading in design, development, and verification of new products to meet product and process development requirements
  • Training and guiding others on electrical design competency and act as a technical resource to them.
  • Technically lead a team of 6-8 engineers including task allocation, mentoring, daily project execution.
  • Understand state of the art (new technologies like EV, Inverters, Si/SiC switches,) and technically mentor the team.
  • Plan project activities and deliver according to customer timelines
  • Evaluation and Component selection of Power devices, conduct layout reviews, circuit simulations and in general, execute electrical team deliverables and documentation.
  • Define and deliver on long term capability development strategy for the team.
  • Acting as a customer interface to resolve any design queries.
  • Mentor younger team members in design, simulation and testing activites.
  • Identify engineering quality and efficiency improvement opportunities and promote Continuous Improvement through problem solving techniques like Six Sigma.
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing during pilot runs/tests production start-up period and existing products
  • Meeting departmental Cost and Quality objectives
  • Interact and work with various internal teams as per Product development life cycle
  • Work closely with global counterparts, in meeting overall program needs
  • Verify design feasibility and contribute in business win for BorgWarner.

Major Job Qualifications / Skills


  • Minimum 12 years’ experience of electronic circuit design.
  • Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical or Automotive Electronics domain.
  • Strong circuit and component knowledge in Power Electronics domain and Si, SiC power modules.
  • Strong design knowledge of Power Electronic circuits, preferably in automotive domain.
  • Experience in SMPS circuit design and Power devices, in using tools like Xpedition, Orcad
  • Experience in testing and debugging of power electronic circuits.
  • Experience in automotive Control units and/or Inverter is preferred.
  • Experience in planning/tracking project teams supporting multiple regions
  • Knowledge on Mentor Expedition tool flow – DxDesigner, PCB Layout, DMS
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC for automotive standard, Product validation testing
  • Experience in Battery Management would be an added advantage.
  • Experience systems, Motor design and analysis would be an added advantage.
  • Nice to have knowledge on FMEA, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and DFSS
  • Exposure in Automotive standards and safety levels would be preferrable.
