Where you fit in


  • The Downstream & Trading Reporting & Analysis (R&A) Organization is a team providing accurate, timely and insightful analysis to deliver more and cleaner energy solutions.


  • Within the Downstream & Trading Reporting & Analysis Team, there are PAR teams responsible for different Classes of Business (COB) (namely Mobility, Lubricants, Low Carbon Solution, Products and Chemicals, Trading) PAR activities


  • This role will report into one of the Downstream COB Managers and is directly responsible for supporting the COB PAR activities working closely with the Business leaders, Finance in the Business and other teams within Shell.


What’s the role?


  • The DS COB PAR lead is responsible for leading the delivery of the PAR Team in Finance Operations. The PAR team in Finance Operations is accountable for the delivery of various critical reporting, appraisal and planning activities and submissions for the Downstream Directorate.


  • The team ensures the timely, accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly financial and non-financial information, appraisal material, and the operationalization of the DS COB Plan.


    • Specific accountability for the “hands on” delivery of the BM Plan, OP Plan, Strategic Plan and Cash Support.


    • Specific accountability for the “hands on” delivery of project activity such as cost management or other projects as they emerge.


    • Accountable for the delivery of all reporting and planning activities as per requirements set by the DS COB PAR Manager.


    • Development of all material for quarterly or other scheduled appraisal of performance and Preparation of financial forecasts


    • Lead the DS COB PAR team and ensure delivery of their responsibilities, manage their performance and grow their capabilities.


    • Working closely with the Controllers Teams to ensure seamless flow of information on the business activities ensuring accurate and timely accounting entries for financial and management information purposes.


    • The scope of the PAR lead will also include addressing complex accounting issues that may arise on interpretation of accounting standards and influenced by macro-economic developments in any market within the cluster.


    • The PAR Lead will consider economic and business trends, review past company performance, and attempt to anticipate obstacles and potential problems, all with an eye towards forecasting the business’ future financial results and supporting delivery of its ultimate potential.


What we need from you?


You will inspire people to make changes that will have a direct impact on our success. Furthermore, you will have:


  • A Bachelors or Master’s degree or Professional Qualification, in Accounting/Finance with exceptional numeracy skills.


  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.


  • Deep understanding of Downstream Financial and Management Information Systems and Data Flows as well as a passion for leveraging technology to automate MI and increasingly build data-driven plans & forecasts.


  • Passion for the Downstream Business, The Energy Transition and a curiosity for how the business delivers value.


  • The ability to process and link large volumes of incomplete information into a compelling set of actionable analyses for senior business leaders is key
