Role Description
The Divisional Risk and Control Specialist is responsible for delivering specific aspects of the risk and control strategy for a sub-division. This includes reviewing and understanding operational processes and manage and maintain controls within the control inventory. This includes designing and review of controls to ensure these mitigate operational risks, monitoring risk and control activities, risk-based control reporting of key issues, performance, and validation of cyclical activities such as annual control self-assessments. It would also include, control testing, incident research, remediation monitoring and other ad hoc control initiatives and projects. The Divisional Risk and Control Specialist will liaise with other risk and control functions, on a management level to assure the integration of risk initiatives and projects.

Your key responsibilities
- Engagement with bank-wide stakeholders including Operations, Embedded Risk Team (ERTs); and senior managers for maintenance and recertification of the control inventory.
- Working closely with Risk Type Controllers and Framework Teams within NFRM to ensure the controls inventory meets required standards.
- Collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure data capture and reporting accuracy via capture templates and various systems.
- Analysis of changes for data quality and consistency of inventory updates.
- Delivery and tracking of NFRM deliverables, status, and issues.
- Ability to understand and implement a robust control framework in line with the organization’s risk strategy.
- Perform RCA (Risk Control Assessment) and review and where required challenge assessments and outcomes.
- Build efficiencies in controls management and related reporting processes.
- Create risk awareness through specialized trainings and educate the wider CB Ops stakeholders including Operations Control Owners, Design Owners, ERT etc. regarding systemic capabilities and functionalities and RCA process and control validations.
- Lead a high performing team of control and inventory management experts and reporting specialists and support them in their career aspirations.
Your skills and experience
- Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationship with global stakeholders. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, solid organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to continually read and comprehend complex process documentation, risk framework documentation, taxonomy, control standards and assess the control management requirements and implement solutions to meet the standards prescribed by the Risk Organization
- Excellent oral and written articulation skills to be able to interview Operations Subject Matter, interact with senior risk experts and build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to engage directly with various business lines and work independently, track critical delivery tasks, and follow up for timely closure.
- Strong ability to interact, collaborate, communicate, and influence individuals at all levels.
- Effective problem solving and decision-making capability.
- Keen observer of current processes and ability to comprehend required benchmarks and transform processes through automation in order to drive efficiencies and reduce manual tasks.
- Experience operating in a complex and fast-paced global environment.
- Open-minded, capability to share information, transfer knowledge and expertise with others.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) – strong excel skills required. SharePoint and Tableau knowledge would be a plus.
- Knowledge of financial domain & terminology, especially Corporate Banking functions would be a plus. Experience in business writing for the Finance Domain/Banking Industry.
