Job Title: Director - Space Planning
Job Summary: The Space Planning Lead is responsible for guiding and executing space planning initiatives across the organization's facilities. This role works closely with various departments to optimize workspace layouts, improve space utilization, and enhance the overall work environment. The Space Planning Lead will implement strategies that support organizational goals, promote employee well-being, and ensure efficient use of available space.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of space planning strategies in line with organizational objectives and workplace trends
Create and maintain accurate floor plans, occupancy data, and space allocation information using CAD software and space management tools
Conduct space utilization studies and analyze data to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings
Manage day-to-day space planning activities, including moves, adds, and changes (MAC)
Collaborate with HR, IT, Facilities, and other departments to understand and address their evolving space needs
Coordinate and execute space planning projects, such as office relocations, renovations, and reconfigurations
Ensure all space plans comply with building codes, safety regulations, and accessibility standards
Develop and update space planning policies, procedures, and guidelines
Prepare and present space utilization reports and recommendations to management
Liaise with external vendors, including architects, designers, and furniture suppliers
Assist in managing the space planning budget and tracking related expenses
Stay informed about industry trends and innovative workplace design concepts
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior space planning team members
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field
3-5 years of experience in space planning, preferably in a corporate environment
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and space management tools
Strong knowledge of workplace design principles and ergonomics
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven project management and organizational abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
Familiarity with relevant building codes and ADA requirements
Experience with change management in workplace transformations is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
