The Team: The South Asia gas/power research team operates within the S&P Global Commodity Insights Research & Analytics Solutions group. The team is dedicated to providing forward-looking market analysis and delivering impactful insights to clients through comprehensive written reports, advanced analytics and direct client engagement.


The Role: Commodity Insights Research & Analytics Solutions seeks a Research Director to lead gas/power market research on South Asia. The role encompasses research production, team management and commercial support. Research topics include policy analysis, regulatory frameworks, market reforms, emerging trends, supply/demand/price forecasts and analytics specific to the South Asia gas/power markets. Managing responsibilities range from planning research agendas and setting priorities to reviewing reports and developing talents. The position will also involve collaboration with internal teams such as other research groups and commercial and supporting functions to enhance S&P Global’s brand recognition and maximize commercial value.


Responsibilities:


  • Thought leadership: Play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our company’s thought leadership by actively engaging with clients and stakeholders, leading high-level client meetings and representing the company at various virtual and in-person events.


  • Research agenda: Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define and prioritize research objectives and topics, ensuring alignment with market needs and organizational goals.


  • Analytics: Partner with the team to develop and improve analytical tools that enable clients to extract meaningful insights and drive impactful conclusions.


  • Deliverables management: Oversee project timelines and ensure high-quality deliverables, managing resources effectively to meet deadlines.


  • Problem solving: Identify and address core issues with a strategic perspective, ensuring solutions align with broader objectives.


  • Client engagement: Support the global commercial team by presenting research findings to existing clients and prospects, enhancing relationships and driving growth.


  • Talent development: Foster career development of team members by providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.


What We’re Looking For:


Basic Qualifications:


  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience at a leading consultancy, energy company, financial services firm, or other knowledge-driven organization.


  • In-depth knowledge of South Asia gas/power/energy markets, with expertise in areas such as policy analysis, market fundamentals, modeling, and trading.


  • Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills to effectively share knowledge with internal and external clients through written reports, discussions and presentations.


  • A commercially driven mindset paired with excellent interpersonal skills.


  • Outstanding attention to detail, ensuring precision in research and deliverables.


  • A strong entrepreneurial spirit, self-direction, and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to perform well under tight deadlines.


  • Proven track record in successfully leading and managing high-performing teams, including remote team members, demonstrating exceptional people management skills.


  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, management, economics, engineering, or an energy-related study.


  • Advanced degrees are a plus.
