The Role
As a Director, Project Management with Worley,you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience.
- Identifies, hires, trains and develops project management people for assigned location or region.
- Identifies and assigns people to appropriate projects for growth and development.
- Effectively leads people and teams.
- Oversees, motivates and monitors the performance of teams, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps.
- Create strong collaborative team environment by establishing common vision, setting clear expectations and accountability.
- Experienced in the use of project delivery methodology and associated tools for large complex projects.
- Demonstrated capability of overseeing large‐scale projects with responsibility for the full performance of the project (planning, directing, supervising and controlling all technical, fiscal and administrative functions).
- Procurement of equipment/materials on paper, subcontracting and materials plan, multiple contracts on paper.
- Capability to manage mixed contracting strategy such as Unit Price, Lump Sum, Reimbursable.
- Has experience with managing complex scope changes.
- Manages projects and monitors progress in an ordered, accurate way, provides accurate and timely information.
- Has completed a full project from start to finish and spent time in the field implementing what was engineered.
Financial Acumen
- Strong understanding and application of business drivers, financial reporting standards and customer contract.
- Tracks department costs and uses analytical skill to forecast trends.
- Ensures proper change control processes are understood and used by the project team.
- Deep understanding of project costs including gross margin analysis.
- Demonstrated controls on lump sum and fixed price contracts.
- Mastered each of the three core PC’s areas (cost control, scheduling, estimating), leads team in mitigating risk.
- Monitors cash flow requirements, including accounts receivable, and work in progress to minimize days sales outstanding (DSO).
Execution Planning & Performance
- Has coordinated the preparation of an integrated set of project execution plans for large/mega projects or complex projects (i.e., engineering, HSE, Quality, procurement, project controls, estimating, construction, etc.)
- Manages execution, coordination, and implements regular reviews/controls to track project progress.
- Comprehensive understanding of Project Control Reports, identifies problem areas and implements recovery plans.
- Interprets and understands all of the key elements of the project schedule to identify adverse trends and take correction action.
- Applies forward planning with schedule to resource the project appropriately.
- Has successfully managed the application of appropriate coordination, reviews and follow ups across the project.
- Application of Advanced Work Packaging for planning and delivery.
- Incorporates Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives into project plan, measures and delivers to objectives.
- Experienced in successful workshare execution.
Communication & Networking
- Effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management.
- Implements clear communication protocols, processes and tools for the project teams.
- Effectively communicates in a variety of settings: one‐on‐one, small and large groups, and among diverse styles and position levels.
- Creates an environment for open communication across levels, functions, geography and cultures to build high performing team based on trust and respect.
- Resolves issues and conflicts within the project team including customer.
- Communicates effectively about sensitive and/or complex subjects of strategic importance to influence desired outcomes.
- Works collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Identifies and understands the customer’s key drivers (KPIs).
- Tracks, monitors, and implements action plans to meet customer’s key drivers (KPIs).
- Understands customer delivery models and effectively identifies and manages different stakeholders.
- Manages and nurtures customer and stakeholder relationship based on established expectations and communication protocols.
- Develops a relationship of trust and respect with ability to discuss project progress, challenges and issues in a transparent manner.
Risk & Opportunity Management
- Understands commercial and legal risks in customer contracts, reviews and understands mitigation plans.
- Identifies potential risks and opportunities to the business resulting from internal and external forces and effectively develops risk mitigation, contingency and resolution plan for the business.
- Follows risk management procedures.
- Keeps detailed risk register that stays current and is tracked & communicated on a regular basis (at least monthly).
- Utilizes Risk Register items as the basis for any business planning.
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
- 25+ years experience, including 20+ years of relevant supervisory, project management and/or technical experience; Workshare experience; EPCM, EPC including site assignments; Multi-Cultural / Multi-National environments.
- Demonstrated PM experience leading large and mega projects with high risk elements.
- Makes independent decisions and recommendations in the course of managing a significant size project. Decisions are for long-range planning, coordination, and technical decisions that can be either specific and/or far-reaching. Develops and oversees implementation of strategic programs and policies for their groups, which may impact the region, location or large project. Ability to manage multiple complex projects through others
- Has direct and indirect reports and has authority for performance evaluations impacting pay. Makes decisions as to the selection, training, discipline and remuneration of people. Gives administrative direction to subordinate supervision, and contact with the work force is normally through such levels rather than direct.
- Expert understanding of broader systems, processes and tools related to field. Able to teach and help others. Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint. Can organize information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.
- May be involved in the development of new systems, processes and tools; Competent in Microsoft Access and Vision.
- Seen as a strong safety proponent/leader/champion for Life.
- HSE Leadership - leads HSE conversations, participates in HSE site walks.
- Sets a strong HSE example and develops/supports project specific HSE plans and initiatives.
- Thinks ahead and takes proactive action on internal/external safety issues.
- Applies strong and impactful safety principles to team and customer, and drives safety culture at work and home.
- Oversees the safety plans for multiple contractors involved in the project.
