Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • In-Plant Logistics Management:


    • Oversee and manage the entire in-plant logistics operations, ensuring seamless movement of materials across the assembly line, warehouse, and storage areas.
    • Optimize in-plant logistics processes to ensure efficient handling and flow of materials, reducing downtime and enhancing production efficiency.
  • Warehouse Operations:


    • Lead end-to-end warehouse operations, including inventory management, storage, and distribution.
    • Implement best practices in warehouse management to improve space utilization, reduce inventory discrepancies, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Transportation and Indian Trucking Systems:


    • Manage and coordinate transportation systems, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and finished products.
    • Leverage deep knowledge of Indian trucking systems to optimize transportation routes, manage freight costs, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assembly Line Logistics:


    • Collaborate with production and assembly teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components on the assembly line.
    • Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline assembly line logistics and minimize waste.
  • Customer Engagement:


    • Engage with customers to understand their logistics requirements and ensure that in-plant logistics operations meet or exceed customer expectations.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries related to logistics and material handling.
  • 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) Management:


    • Oversee and manage third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and deliver high-quality services.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with 3PL providers, negotiating contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to achieve cost efficiencies and operational excellence.
  • Manpower Management:


    • Lead and manage a diverse team of logistics professionals, including 3PL manpower, to ensure high levels of productivity and engagement.
    • Implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the logistics team.
  • Continuous Improvement:


    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function, identifying areas for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to achieve operational targets.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.


  • Experience:


    • Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in in-plant logistics, warehouse operations, transportation systems, and assembly line logistics, preferably within the automobile manufacturing industry.
    • Strong knowledge of Indian trucking systems and transportation logistics.
    • Proven experience in customer engagement and 3PL management.
  • Skills:


    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
