Job Description

SUMMARY


Our Systems Infrastructure team is responsible for the shared technologies our company uses to deliver internal and external systems. We are the custodians of centralized development tools, such as repositories and registries, and we advise development teams on the best ways to exploit build / deployment automation. 


You need to be constantly on the lookout for opportunities to improve our Infrastructure in ways that support development team autonomy. You take pride in your excellent customer service. You work well in a team environment and know how to bring out the best in your colleagues.


You will contribute by implementing continuous improvements that demonstrate the benefits of DevSecOps practices and technologies, on premises and in the cloud. Most importantly, you are passionate about helping our customers learn to build awesome applications every day.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work as an integral part of a cross-functional team in a scaled, agile environment.
  • Produce reliable, maintainable, java code. Includes appropriate unit tests.
  • Participate in peer-to-peer design and code reviews.
  • Own shifts for bug triage, prod/non-prod escalations, and deployments.
  • Use a variety of debugging techniques to investigate. Includes identifying solutions, proactively monitoring, and as-appropriate escalation.
  • Actively participates in team/ART engagements and the TDP’s Community of Practice (CoP).
  • Regularly reviews pipelines, monitoring dashboards, and logs to proactively detect issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Design future development/operational work based on requirements; estimate effort.
  • Analyze application runtime to identify areas of performance improvement/resource optimization.
  • Proactively contribute to knowledge base and project documentation.
  • Coach TDP Devs on k8s and Azure CI/CD opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • 10+ years in a software development using Java, Angular/React.js, Spring, and Hibernate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in DevSecOps, CI/CD and automation management with tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes and Terraform.
  • Solid Java coding abilities and experience in declarative environment management with Terraform or Bicep
  • Understanding of design for scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
  • Experience assessing organizational security needs and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Comfortable and effective at communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • At least four years’ experience working with on premises and cloud-based implementations.
  • At least two years’ experience using Ansible daily.
  • At least three years’ experience with UNIX / Linux scripting.
  • At least one years’ experience utilizing GitLab and GitLab Runners or GitHub actions.
  • Proficient with build and deployment tools such as Chef and Jenkins.

Desired Qualifications


  • Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, and ORM tools like Hibernate.
  • Ability to write Shell / Python scripts and Ansible playbooks.
  • Experience working within a SAFe/Agile development framework.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as HashiCorp Terraform.
  • Experience with secret management software, such as HashiCorp Vault.
  • Experience in install and upgrade of Java, Tomcat, Apache/Nginx and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of Grafana observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Thanos, Tempo)
  • Implement GitOps using Argo CD and Kustomize.
  • Knowledge of the Kafka ecosystem.
  • Experience in Azure API Management or Backstage.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL Database.
  • Experience with working with cloud native applications, container orchestration platforms such as Mirantis / Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher/RKE or Anthos/ Google GKE highly desired.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
  • Able to formulate and implement a design strategy from a mix of business requirements, concept documents, and verbal descriptions.
  • Proficient working with Virtual Machines on premise and in the cloud.
  • Familiar with SAFe methodologies.
