Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Java/JVM Developer Advocate to join our team in Bangalore, India. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of cloud-powered Java development, showcasing how AWS can supercharge JVM-based applications and microservices.
Key job responsibilities
As a Java/JVM Developer Advocate for AWS, you'll be at the forefront of cloud-native Java development, shaping the future of scalable and innovative JVM-based applications. Your role will be crucial in bridging the gap between AWS's powerful cloud offerings and the Java ecosystem, inspiring and educating developers worldwide. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and showcase cutting-edge Java/JVM solutions using AWS services, focusing on performance, scalability, and cloud-native architectures
- Create compelling educational content including demos, blog posts, and tutorials to help developers leverage AWS for Java development
- Engage with the global Java community through workshops, conferences, and online platforms to promote best practices in cloud-powered Java development
- Collaborate with AWS product teams to provide feedback on Java developer experiences and contribute to the evolution of AWS services
- Stay current with the latest trends in Java, JVM languages, and cloud technologies, continually exploring new ways to integrate these with AWS services
A day in the life
Your day might start with a team standup, aligning on current projects. You might then continue coding a demo that shows how to implement a reactive microservices architecture using Spring Boot, Project Reactor, and Amazon ECS. After lunch, you might write a blog about optimizing Java Lambda functions. In the afternoon, you might spend time answering questions online about using AWS services in Java projects. This role blends coding, content creation, and community engagement to inspire Java developers on AWS.

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in Java development, focusing on creating performant, scalable applications
- Proficiency in Java 8+ and experience with modern Java frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot, Quarkus or Micronaut)
- Knowledge of cloud services, especially those relevant to Java development (e.g., containerization, serverless, managed databases)
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with experience delivering technical content to developers of varied backgrounds.
- Experience with AWS services, especially those relevant to Java development
- Familiarity with other JVM languages like Kotlin or Scala is a plus
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Demonstrable experience engaging with developer communities, including creating technical content, public speaking, or active participation on platforms like GitHub, Stack Overflow, or developer forums.
- Ability to create and present technical content aimed at practitioners and developers.
- Willingness to travel as required.
