Your Role


As part of our Lifestyle Studio, you will join a centre of excellence dedicated to the successful delivery of hospitality & residential projects throughout the Asia-Pacific Middle East region and globally. Our Studio offers a unique opportunity to collaborate on some of the most exciting projects across the world, working directly alongside our teams of experts in other offices to provide clients with a seamless experience of top-quality design and technical detailing. As a Gensler Senior Technical Designer with Interior Design expertise in the Hospitality and Residential sectors, you will combine creativity and technical knowledge with your deep understanding of the hospitality & residential industry to produce functionally beautiful spaces for our clients. You will collaborate with our Design Directors and wider team of architects and designers to deliver unparalleled projects, leveraging your Revit skills and technical acumen to drive client projects from concept through completion. You will lead the team to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the design and detail development and construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate the Designer's concept design presentations and visuals into developed design documentation through SD, DD and tender phases, including to Issue for construction, and you can research artistic and technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do


  • Lead the technical design of projects including programming client needs, concept, design development, space planning and construction documentation.
  • Lead the story board through visioning, planning and mater selection.
  • Direct the production of drawings, specifications tasks.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and oversight of the project manual and specifications.
  • Manage multiple aspects of team and project and coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants for a variety of hospitality and residential projects.
  • Support the management of client and team expectations and communication.
  • Produce graphic presentations, , plans, elevations, details and sections through to detailed construction drawings.
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative and practical solutions.
  • Responsible for delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of project.
  • Be an advocate for Gensler sustainability commitments internally and externally.
  • Make sustainability an integral part of every project. • Define project sustainability targets in collaboration with the client and the project team at the start of each project.
  • Understand clients ESG goals and work with project teams towards achieving them. Support and encourage team members to pursue sustainability learning.
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
  • Lead quality assurance for each submission.
     

Your Qualifications


  • Advanced degree in Architecture or Interior Design preferred.
  • 15+ years of related architecture and design experience, including a demonstrable ability to deliver projects from start to completion, with extensive experience in interior design project delivery.
  • Proven background in the delivery of high-end hospitality and residential projects, base building and interior design experience is necessary.
  • Experience interpreting building code requirements in designs, coordination with consultants, and clear client communication during construction administration.
  • Knowledge of materials and construction techniques, with the ability to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be done.
  • Deep knowledge of interior design detailing and materials as well as materials implication.
  • Understanding of design stages and deliverables and level of detailing for each stage.
  • Highly proficient in design modeling/visualization tools including but not limited to Revit, Rhino, Enscape; having experience with Excel and computational tools like grasshopper/dynamo is also a plus.
  • Ability to lead a team and develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with internal and external clients, and with other key partners.
  • Desire to develop and mentor junior team members. Collaborative and team conscious.
  • Strong organizations skills and with the flexibility to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Creative, original thinking and technically biased, demonstrated through a strong creative and technical portfolio.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • A quick learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Knowledge in sustainable design principles required.
  • LEED, WELL, Fitwel, LFA or other rating systems accreditation preferable.
  • Understand key principles for leading and achieving net zero projects.
  • Capacity to drive sustainability focused discussions with clients and teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required.
  • Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferred. At least one project of the candidate portfolio should showcase this focus. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and /or Net Zero Building certification.

Your Design Technology Qualifications


  • Deep understanding and expertise in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project delivery.
  • Deep understanding and expertise in the strategic planning, setup of BIM projects, and troubleshooting, specifically in the context of Revit and allied workflows.
  • Deep understanding and expertise with collaboration in the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detection.
  • Understanding of the capabilities and application of Information Management tools such as Aconex, Asite, Newforma, etc. Desirable:
  • Good working knowledge and experience in Rhinoceros for design authoring.
  • Good knowledge and experience with interoperability workflows between Rhino & Revit throughout all the stages of a project.
  • Good knowledge and experience with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM workflows.
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or Dynamo.
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in the setting up, troubleshooting and use of VR, AR, and XR for client presentations, consultant coordination and internal design reviews.
